In reference to the following passage :
Whenever righteousness wanes and unrighteousness increases I send myself forth. For the protection of the good and for the destruction of evil, and for the establishment of righteousness, I come into being age after age. — Bhagavad Gita 4.7–8
I understand this more recently means Chaitanya Mahaprabu (if I am not mistaken) but can we take this also to mean figure heads from other famous religions such as Jesus, Mohammed, Gautama Buddah etc?
What prompted me to ask is I see in my copy of the Bhagavad Gita As it Is by SP it shows pictures referencing this verse with what looks like a representation of the historical buddah.
This is a pretty cool concept but I just wanted to know others thoughts on this passage.
Many thanks in advance.

HK!
Thanks to all who responded. This is the picture (notice Buddah in bottom right hand corner) and verse quote that prompted the question. Sorry I cut and pasted the quote from the net but it was actually after I read the verse in Bhagavad Gita As It Is by SP. The verse I read was:
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend My Self
In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to re-establish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium
Hare Krsna
Or you could just study divine literature like Srimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad Gita translated by Srila prabhupada, practice Krsna consciousness seriously and go Back home back to godhead.
Hare Krsna
Hi Paul for even more details google "crimes of prophet"
No Paul mohd is not msngr of god. According to bhavishya puran his actual name is mahamad and he is called as maleccha. Maleccha means a barbarian, nonvedic and several negative meanings. For more details visit another discussion here "are gods of other reglions fake or demigods". One devotee has given full details about mohd and we have proved its fake. Islam is called pishacha dharma. Pishacha means hobgoblin in short terrible.
Not again. Please !
What not again? I have spoken the truth as per bhavishya puran.
Hare Krsna Prabhu
The question doesn't ask about bible or quran as far as I can read.

The above passage is certainly taken from an unauthorized translation of Bhagavad Gita. In all likelihood it is from a bogus mayavadi version of Bhagavad Gita. The correct translation is given By His Divine Grace Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada in Bhagavad Gita As it is as follows.
yadā yadā hi dharmasya
glānir bhavati bhārata
abhyutthānam adharmasya
tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion—at that time I descend Myself. ( BG 4.7)
paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ
vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām
dharma-saṁsthāpanārthāya
sambhavāmi yuge yuge
In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium. (BG 4.8)
The beauty of BG As it is written by Srila Prabhupada is that it is just as given by Lord Krsna Himself. It is perfect nectar. Any small alteration to it can cause considerable loss of taste.

No.
It is never advisable to take anything to mean something other than what is given.
The above understanding could have come due to the wrong translation.
Lord Krsna doesn't say - I send myself. Even in common usage that sounds imperfect.
Lord Krsna says - I descend Myself.
So Lord Chaintanya Mahaprabu is Lord Krsna Himself.
Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammad are not Lord Krsna or avatar of Lord Krsna.
However they are representatives of God.
Buddha is an avatar of Lord Krsna as given in Srimad Bhagavatam
tataḥ kalau sampravṛtte
sammohāya sura-dviṣām
buddho nāmnāñjana-sutaḥ
kīkaṭeṣu bhaviṣyati
Then, in the beginning of Kali-yuga, the Lord will appear as Lord Buddha, the son of Añjanā, in the province of Gayā, just for the purpose of deluding those who are envious of the faithful theist. (SB 1.3.24).
Lord Buddha is not worshiped as Lord Krishna by devotees of Krsna
Hare Krsna
Hare Krsna Prabhuji,
PAMHO.
Yes, Chaitanya Mahaprahu is the kaliyuga avatar. He came in the form of His own devotee, to taste the devotion in separation, to give the holy name to the people of kaliyuga as means to liberation.
Regarding Gautam Buddha - He is incarnation of God, as mentioned in Srimad Bhagawtam.
Jesus Christ is the son of God. He is an empowered devotee.
Prophet Mohammed is the messenger of God - paigambar.
This is what they have themselves said and we accept.
