Following is what SP says about the moon planet and going there...
the six months when the sun passes to the south reaches the moon planet but again comes back.

The denizens of superior planets, from the moon planet and upwards, were known as devas.

The moon is considered one of the planets of the heavenly kingdom. One can be promoted to this planet by executing different sacrifices recommended in the Vedic literature, such as pious activities in worshiping the demigods and forefathers with rigidity and vows. But one cannot remain there for a very long time. Life on the moon is said to last ten thousand years according to the calculation of the demigods. The demigods' time is calculated in such a way that one day (twelve hours) is equal to six months on this planet. It is not possible to reach the moon by any material vehicle like a sputnik, but persons who are attracted by material enjoyment can go to the moon by pious activities.

In this connection, the darkness occurring before the full moon, the lunar eclipse, can be explained as being another planet, known as Rahu. According to Vedic astronomy, the Rahu planet, which is not visible, is accepted. Sometimes the Rahu planet is visible in the presence of full moonlight. It then appears that this Rahu planet exists somewhere near the orbit of the moon. The failure of modern moon excursionists may be due to the Rahu planet. In other words, those who are supposed to be going to the moon may actually be going to this invisible planet Rahu. Actually, they are not going to the moon but to the planet Rahu, and after reaching this planet, they come back. Apart from this discussion, the point is that a living entity has immense and unlimited desires for material enjoyment, and he has to transmigrate from one gross body to another until these desires are exhausted.

When Gita says then it is a fact. Because Gita is said by Krsna himself. Krsna never tells a lie. He can do anything. Why do you want to take certificate of modern science for what our Bhagwad Gita says. Let the modern science proove otherwise.

"Srila Prabhupada made numerous statements such as: “It appears from this verse that the moon is one of the stars; therefore the stars that twinkle in the sky also reflect the light of the sun. The theory that there are many suns within the universe is not accepted by Vedic literature. The sun is one, and as by the reflection of the sun the moon illuminates, so also do the stars…” [B.G. 10.21, Purport]
How does a faithful disciple cope with such a statement? One thing is clear: Srila Prabhupada was not ignorant of modern astronomy. I mean, he was not a practicing astronomer by any means, but he was an educated man with a good grasp of the modern theories. He was not some pious, simple villager who was unaware of how strange such statements would sound to the modern ear. He had gotten a good education at Scottish Churches College in Calcutta in the 1920s and had remained informed of current events and developments throughout his life. He was not ignorant of scientific theories.
And yet he obviously considered it very important that our faith in modern science be subordinate to our faith in the Vedic view of the world. He insisted on writing such things and did not choose to simply paper over them for the sake of avoiding confrontation with the modern accepted view. This was undoubtedly a deliberate choice on his part and not an accident or blunder.
When Hayagriva edited out a portion of “Easy Journey” dealing with the inability of astronauts to travel mechanically to the moon, Srila Prabhupada was highly displeased, and insisted that the missing text be restored.
And he ordered us to build a Planetarium in Mayapur.
