Do ISKCON disciples consider themselves as Hindus?
The founder of Krna consciousness movement is Lord Sri Krsna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He is supreme lord and considered himselvef servant of servant of Sri Krsna
nāhaṁ vipro na ca nara-patir nāpi vaiśyo na śūdro
nāhaṁ varṇī na ca gṛha-patir no vanastho yatir vā
    kintu prodyan-nikhila-paramānanda-pūrnāmṛtābdher
    gopī-bhartuḥ pada-kamalayor dāsa-dāsānudāsaḥ
I am not a brāhmaṇa, I am not a kṣatriya, I am not a vaiśya or a śūdra. Nor am I a brahmacārī, a householder, a vānaprastha or a sannyāsī. I identify Myself only as the servant of the servant of the servant of the lotus feet of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the maintainer of the gopīs. He is like an ocean of nectar, and He is the cause of universal transcendental bliss. He is always existing with brilliance. (CC 13.80)
The true identity of soul is that we are eternal servant of Sri Krsna. All other identities are temporary. The goal is to realize this true identity.

The founder Acharya is Srila Prabhupada ji who was a Hindu kayasth man.
The founder Acarya of Iskcon is a soul descended from spiritual world as predicited by Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur just to deliver the fallen conditioned souls of kali yuga. Which family, state he appeared should not matter. WHat should matter is the message and the process he has highlighted.

Krsna consciousness movement is not exclusive for human beings what to speak of Hindus. Lord Chaitanya gave Love of Krsna even to animals. Even Lord Rama gave service to animals. Ravana was for that matter born in Brahmin family. We should focus on the true unchanging eternal aspects of spirituality rather than racial, political, bodily identities. This is first message of Sri Krsna in BG - You are not the body, you are soul.
Having said that followers of Iskcon do not deviate from the principles of Sanatana Dharma. Krsna consciousness is the topmost level goal of Daivi Varnashrama dharma which is the system under Sanatana Dharma or what British called Hinduism

  • Hare Krishna,
The people who lived in Hindustaan were called Indus or Hindus by the Arabs and persians..
The word hindu comes from the geographical location of the subcontinent.
But those who practice a dharma which is eternal and which is coming from time immemorial that dharma is now a days popularly called as Hindusim.. but bascially it should be called Sanathana dharma.
sanātana-dharma does not refer to any sectarian process of religion. It is the eternal function of the eternal living entities in relationship with the eternal Supreme Lord. Sanātana-dharma refers, as stated previously, to the eternal occupation of the living entity.
All iskcon followers consider themselves to be Sanathana dharma followers.
any person regardless of any caste, creed, religion or nation when they follow the principles laid by Archarya Parampara and after taking initiation from a guru... becomes a Vaishnava.
By birth one maybe a shudra also but once he takes shelter of Lord Sri Krishna and follows the 4 regulative principles then he is called a Vaishnava.
Srila Prabhupada ji was a Vaishnava. All those following him will be called Disciples of Srila Prabhupada ji and all those following 4 regulative principles become naturally a Vaishnava.
being a hindu is not great.. following regulative principles and being a Vaishnava is the highest state.
Anyone can be called a hindu.. who is born in India and who are praying to hindu God and goddesses.
But a Vaishnava is separate classification --those who follow sanathana dharma along with 4 regulative principles strictly are only called Vaishnavas.
Santhan Dharma is way to lead a life following eternal natural laws laid by Supreme Lord Sri Krishna.
Doing rightful deeds and respecting elders and following rituals like deeparadhana, sandhya vandanam,, respecting gurus and teachers, brahmins and poor and sick treated all equally and doing the needful without getting attached to any material things... knowing that you are a soul and part and parcel of Sri Krishna. completing your nitya karma and vihita karma regularly are some of the rules and regulations to be listed under Sanathan dharma.
In addition to these above said a Vaishnava should follow 4 regulative principles 1. no gambling 2 no meat eating 3. no illicit sex 4. no intoxicants.
This is a perfect way of living as a human being. This is Vaishnavism. all those who follow this are called Vaishnavites.
    Hare Krishna.
    • Shri Shankaracharya in one of his lecture says that Iskcon is a way to ruin the Hindu society by calling on foreigners to give deeksha to Hindus and not letting these Hindus to call themselves as Hindus and rather as ISKCON devotees. How true is this? How will this be Confronted??
      • Just tell foreigners are souls - part and parcel of Krishna. How could an acharya missed this most basic, vital point is beyond me. If one is qualified by birth why do brahmin by birth children go through all the purification process all over again? Do son of a pilot fly the airplane with great mastery from day one? Humans with qualities which are conducive to spiritual practice are born everywhere. They are searched and then engaged in devotional practice.
On the contrary those so called "Hindus" who are full of pride are ruining the religion and those so called "brahmins" who are supposed to be free of pride are accusing ISKCON of challenging their traditional "authority". Spiritual merit is the essence.

Iskcon is a way to ruin the Hindu society by calling on foreigners to give deeksha
Whoever this personality is needs to open eyes and see all the ways that "Hindu society" has been and is being ruined by western propaganda. Modern education, bollywood, secularism, consumerism, internet pronography, divorces, families being torn apart etc are ruining the "hindu society".
Iskcon is a hope to propagate the real goal of life and culture. True education of spirit soul and our relationship with Krsna is propagated by Krsna consciousness movement as given by Sri Krsna in Bhagavad Gita.

calling on foreigners to give deeksha
Spirit soul is sat cit ananand. The nature of Spirit soul is same in every living being
        vidyā-vinaya-sampanne
        brāhmaṇe gavi hastini
        śuni caiva śva-pāke ca
        paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ
The humble sages, by virtue of true knowledge, see with equal vision a learned and gentle brāhmaṇa, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a dog-eater [outcaste]. (BG 5.18)

This is not to say any person can give deeksha. The qualification for deeksha is not country of irth. t is elevation in Krsna consciousness, purity of life and compassion towards all living beings.

Not letting these Hindus to call themselves as Hindus
How ? Is there a police force that monitors if any Iskcon follower calls himself Hindu and punish him or imprison him ? "Not letting" How ridicuous !

        How will this be Confronted??
        With intelligence

        Hare Krsna
      • Let me tell you one important thing... Body of a foreigner is also made by the same God as hindu or Indian body.
The physical make up anatomical makeup everything is same to same.
When God didn't make any differences while creating bodies... and God didn't make any boundaries on earth like this place is hindustaan that place is America.
Did God make these geographical boundaries?
        NO its all man made.
for God all are equal. A soul in a ant's body is same as soul in a foreigner body..or hindu body or shudra body or a brahmin body. There is no distinction.
How come Learned people like Shree Shankaracharya would make a blind statement like that.
foreigners are giving deeksha to hindus.. ....is there any hard and fast rule that only hindus are great only they can give dikshas.??
A qualified foreigner who is following 4 regulative principles and following rules and regulations laid by Acharyas is called a Vaishanava and he can be a guru and give deeksha. Whats the issue.?????? I have seen foreigners know more sanskrit slokas then the so called hindus.,
Brahmana is called a DWIJA .. Dwija is the one who is twice born.
Brahamin who is born in the family of brahmin family is also not qualified to be called a brahmin until he is done with his thread ceremony.
Brahmin inititation ( along with thread ceremony) makes him a brahmin that is why brahmin is born really after his jeneyu thread ceremony. that is why brahmins are called twice born.
No one is a brahmin by birth. after undergoing diksha and thread ceremony they are called brahmins.
Foreigners who are qualified can only become gurus and those people only can give diksha in ISKCON.
Person is qualified to give initiation or not is noted by the institution. Quality checking is constantly done by the organisation.
See.. There is good and bad in every step of your life..
what you take is up to you.
What Shankaracharya ji gave is his opinion. Its a free country. Everyone has right to speak out their opinions.
what to take what to leave is up to you.
        Hare Krishna
