Chaitanya Mahaprabhu

Hare Krsna everyone,

My humble pranams to all. I am new to ISKCON and I have a question out of curiousity. Gaudiya Vaishnavs consider Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Ji as an avatar of Krsna and Radha combined. But why this is not mentioned in Srimad Bhagvatam?

Any other source where we can find this refrence?

  • All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Srimad Bhagavatam is full of eternal pastimes or Lila's of Lord Sri Krsna and Chaitanya Caritamrita is the mind of Lord Sri Krsna( here everything about Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu abd His associates).

Lord Chaitanya is the Kali Yuga avatar and He is Lord Krsna Himself acting as a devotee of the Lord Sri Krsna, just to teach us how to be devoted to Lord Sri Krsna and chanting , dancing & feasting ! He is the most merciful for the Kali Yuga!

    Hari Bol!

    kṛṣṇa-varṇaṁ tviṣākṛṣṇaṁ
    sāṅgopāṅgāstra-pārṣadam
    yajñaiḥ saṅkīrtana-prāyair
    yajanti hi su-medhasaḥ

In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Kṛṣṇa. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Kṛṣṇa Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.

It is mentioned that He is not blackish, but he is Krishna HIMSELF.

Indirectly mentioned that He is gaura varna ( fair) and will make many people perfom congregational chanting.

But why this is not mentioned in Srimad Bhagvatam?

Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appeared aproximately 4500 years after Srimad Bhagavatam was compiled. So detailed pastimes of Lord Chaitanya have not been described in Srimad Bhagavatam the way pastimes of Lord Narasimha or Lord Vamana are described.

Any other source where we can find this refrence?

Please refer to Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita compiled by Srila Krsnadas Kaviraj Goswami
