Hare Krishna,
ŚB 6.4.9
अहस्ता हस्तयुक्तानां द्विपदां च चतुष्पद: ॥ ९ ॥
hy apadaḥ pāda-cāriṇām
ahastā hasta-yuktānāṁ
dvi-padāṁ ca catuṣ-padaḥ
By nature’s arrangement, fruits and flowers are considered the food of insects and birds; grass and other legless living entities are meant to be the food of four-legged animals like cows and buffalo; animals that cannot use their front legs as hands are meant to be the food of animals like tigers, which have claws; and four-legged animals like deer and goats, as well as food grains, are meant to be the food of human beings.
Then why it is a sin to eat meat ?
In God's design, one living being is the food of other living beings. Then how can we say He is compassionate ?
Lord Krishna never spoke on the topic of animal killing and meat eating. Nor did Lord Rama.
Moreover they hunted animals in the forest. ( May be Kshatriya Dharma ).
Lord Krishna silently watched, when arjuna hunted down many birds trying to escape during Khandava dahana.
Only devotees like Prabhupada , bhishma and narada showed compassion to animals.
It seems that devotees are more compassionate than Him.
I am wondering, when God himself is indifferent and silent, why meat eating should be a serious topic among devotees ?

True. Thats nice you are reading the SB very well. The food chain. yep.
now to answer this question:-
Look at the above chart. There are wild animals who eat deers. When the wild animals die their body disintegrates and decomposes into the soil and the soil is enriched by the nutrients in this way and they soil becomes productive to produce green grass that can be eaten by grass eating animals like cows and deer, sheep and goat.
Wow this is what is mentioned in SB. Really, God is very kind. When He made the earth He kept all things necessary for us to eat and live here.
But did you see. All that is coming out of earth is entering earth back again?
Aha
there's the catch. Well, I can eat meet or eat grass.
But I prefer grass then eating the snake or dog or grass hopper. I am a little bit more sofisticated. I eat grass fed animals ( goat and sheep) that is better then eating the grass directly??
aha.. no no. I am a bit more sofisticated and advanced then all these.
If I eat the grass ..what will goat, cows and sheep eat. They eat nothing but grass. Okay okay.. let me leave the grass for these poor kids. They have nothing else to eat other than grass.
I will eat.. ummmmmmmm ummmmmmm....The products of the plants. In this way. I will not hurt the vegetation. I wont hurt any being on earth. I wont even disturb other life's food.
I am more advanced being a VAISHNAVA. I can survive with just food coming out of the food. There by I wont exhaust any resources on the planet and save the food for other beings. I am so very caring for all other creatures. You see I am a bit more humbler now.
I am going to just eat fruits, vegetables and grains which are products of the plants. In this way I wont entriely kill the plant itself.
If I eat the plant and chew the vegetation off ............my dear goats, sheep and cows will have no food left out for eating. .....Aww.
I am going to save the planet and save the vegetation save the grass and plants too.
I am a very humble Vaishnava. But again. Every Life form even the fruit and grains have life. How can I eat them also?
now What can I do?
I feel bad to hurt the fruit and grain. Okay Okay I will give the food offer to the GIVER OF THE FOOD Himself first.
Oh Keshava, Pls. partake the food before I chomp chomp on these fruits, vegetables and grains. I feel guilty that I am going to kill the fruit and vegetable and the grain for my survival.
I cannot live without eating Oh keshava. I am a sinner. But Thank you my Lord. I am able to offer you before I eat. I have been in various life forms before I took birth of a human being. I WAS eating so many insects, birds rats and killing all the life forms for my survival and I have hurt you many many times without my knowledge. As I am now able to realize my mistake I am humbly offering you this food. Please help me Oh Krishna, That I am free of sins. Even If I consume these fruits and products obtained by trees also I am doing a big mistake of hurting the life. I am unable to avoid this. I am downsizing and minimizing my needs Oh Keshava. Please help save me! Accept my humble offering and make this a Prasadam before I consume. Thanks.
Hare Krishna
Why doesn't he create such food where there is no soul inside it.. Does not He know, how much miserable it is to get killed ?
Will a deer or a buffallow say to a tiger or a lion, come eat me ? Will not it run away from fear ?
Hare Krsna

Food is completely optional.
In the fourth month Dhruva Mahārāja became a complete master of the breathing exercise, and thus he inhaled air only every twelfth day. In this way he became completely fixed in his position and worshiped the Supreme Personality of Godhead.(SB 4.8.75)
Will a deer or a buffallow say to a tiger or a lion, come eat me ? Will not it run away from fear ?
It will certainly run away
Hare Krsna
Suppose I am a father of a number of children, will I arrange a food cycle sothat one child eats up others
Hare Krsna
The first lesson of Bhagavad Gita is that, living beings are not the body. They are soul. Body is like a dress for soul. Killing does not mean death of soul, It is like changing body for soul.
Think of it like changing clothes. So Children of God cannot be killed. Sri Krsna is a very loving father.
Hare Krsna
If it is just a dress, why killing these dresses has become a sin ?
Hare Krsna
Why killing these dresses has become a sin ?
Because dress has a purpose for that living being.
Killing animal can be sinful if it does not elevate the animal being killed. That animal body has been given to that jiva occupying that animal body to gradually elevate to higer consciousness. By killing the animal for eating, before the stipulated natural time of death, the jiva in that animal body has to again take birth in same animal body, for the remainder of time. So elevation to higer consciousness is unnecessarily prolonged for that jiva.
If animal sacrifice is 100% performed as per scriptures, by qualified people, then jiva in that animal body which is sacrificed is expected to get higher consciousness. Elevating consciousness is goal of scriptures.
Hare Krsna
Sri Krsna is a very loving father.
Will you Show me a verse where He said " I love all these creatures "
He only said " I neither love nor hate "
Hare Krsna
He only said " I neither love nor hate "
But, but that is not the complete statement. Below is complete shloka
samo ’haṁ sarva-bhūteṣu
na me dveṣyo ’sti na priyaḥ
ye bhajanti tu māṁ bhaktyā
mayi te teṣu cāpy aham
I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him.(BG 9.29)
He further says, those who are favourably rendering service, to them He is a dear friend. This choice to serve Sri Krsna is available to all living beings. When we do serve Sri Krsna, Sri krsna will reciprocate personally. And we living beings will be reinstated in our relationship with Sri Krsna. That is the highest of benefit for all living beings. That is the goal of all scriptures.
It is very easy to serve Sri Krsna. The best way to serve Sri Krsna is by chanting His transcendetal names -
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
By chanting the above all perfection is attainable to all person irrespective of high or low birth, rich or poor, etc.
So Krsna has given all of us a simple and sublime way to reconnect with Him instead of suffering in material world. This in itself is supreme compassion and love of Sri Krsna.
Hare Krsna
Any one who reads this will think that He only loves His slaves. Not everyone.
I beg you not to say again " this is mental speculation".
