Bhagavad Gita Chapter 4.14

Hi. Beginner question again:

Just read last night in Bhagavad Gita As it Is (1972 edition) Chapter 4, 14:

"There is no work that affects Me, nor do I aspire for the fruits of action. One who understands this truth about Me also does not become entangled in the fruitive reactions of work"

After reading his Divine Grace's purport on this verse, from what I can understand, he more or less says (towards the end of the purport) that one who is an experienced person in Krsna Consciousness is not subject to the laws of Karma.

Did I understand that correctly?

That is a pretty amazing concept. I just wanted to make sure I am understanding this correctly as it is a pretty good motivation to develop Krsna Consciousness.

In contrast, I don't get that out of the Penguin sanskrit translation however which reads:

"In the bonds of works I am free, because in them I am free from desires. The man who can see this truth, in his work he finds his freedom"

Anyway, I appreciate any input of feedback to help me on my path to learning. Thank you kindly.

    Yes, it is very amazing. 

    One who is an experienced person in Krsna Consciousness is not subject to the laws of Karma. Did I understand that correctly?

    Almost yes. But just for the sake of completeness.

    The complete sentence is -  the person who understands this transcendental nature of the Lord is an experienced man in Krsna consciousness, and thus he is never subjected to the laws of karma.

    Let us say A: the person who understands this transcendental nature of the Lord

    B : is an experienced man in Krsna consciousness

    C : and thus he is never subjected to the laws of karma.

    The statement is A validates B and results in C

    Earlier in BG 4.9 Krsna says A results in C.

    But A & C can seem quite distant because A is about lord & C is about freedom of jiva.

    So here SP is bridging A & C with help of B.

    That is the role of Acarya as compared to a dictionary. Acarya simplifies everything. This is the beauty of Bhaktivedanta Purports. Let us relish it.

  • Because He is renounced by Hi's nature, and without neediness Krishna is moving freely, though the energies around Him may tempt to become intrusive.

    This is Lord speaking about Himself. He is the master creator of the entire universe right?  But at the same time He is not bound to these vikaras. ( mamakaras , anger , jealousy, hate, fear etc.). His way of doing karma and our way of doing karma is different. We are doing for enjoying the fruits of our karmas. But lord does it for it has to be done. He is not attached to the fruits of His actions. Even though He is a creator He can take life or give life to anyone He has that authority.  He can do justice without attaching to moh and maaya. Like for example. Arjuna was fearing ( like a normal person) that how to take the lives of bheeshmacharya and others. But Krishna didn't feel any pain for killing his own Mama ( kamsa. Becoz  He is not interested in the fruits of his actions ( here fruits means?? ) He is the source of all.. He is the source of all happiness and bliss. He is not working for any results.

    When we do any action we all think like arjuna what will be the result of my killing my own kith and kin. How can i do so.. What will happen next or what will be the future. We all plan and do actions right ? All we are doing our karmas based on planning this actions will give this result lets do this action. But for God  He has no plans. If the person not following dharma even if he his own Mama/uncle ( kamsa) or be it even Sambha( own son) He didn't do any partiality in implementing justice.

    It is becoz he is not bound by any moha or vikaras  He is out of 3 modes and vikaras. Though He is father of all He has no pain or pleasure when He is implementing justice for the sake of establishing Dharma. SO, If you able to understand Lord's modus operandi.. Mode of action.. then you can also simply do work for the sake of duty and you will also not be fearing for the results .. Then you can also be free of all desires and thus u can be free of fruitive actions. Then You will surely be away from the bondages of Karma.
