Violence

Everything has its proper utility, and a man who is situated in complete knowledge knows how and where to apply a thing for its proper utility
"Violence also has its utility, and how to apply violence rests with the person in knowledge".
Although the justice of the peace awards capital punishment to a person condemned for murder, the justice of the peace cannot be blamed, because he orders violence to another person according to the codes of justice.
Nonviolence in politics may be a diplomacy, bu

How shall i serve you

Even in ISKCON's early days, Prabhupada had intimated that he preferred to hand over the management of his Society to his senior men. By doing this he could be free to finish translating the Srimad-Bhagavatam.

Nevertheless, Prabhupada's day-to-day letters from his disciples were still filled with questions that could be quite competently answered by the senior devotees. In reply to such a letter sent from Upendra, Srila Prabhupada wrote:

I never asked my spiritual master any q

"Simplicity Diet"

Hare Krishna,

Few months back I was in Rajasthan and I was inspired to write this small article dedicating to all those following simplicity diet.  I am sure those who visit villages in Rajasthan get the same feeling.  In comparison to villages in other parts of India, Rajasthani villages are special. Rajasthani men and women are semblem of simplicity.  And it starts with their diet.

Krishna's Smile - Always Gives Him Away

One cool autumn evening, Radha and Her sakhis gathered in raasa bhoomi to meet Krishna. Govinda also arrived followed by some of His dearest sakhaas. Krishna was eager to perform the raasa dance and hoped that the gopis would be agreeable; however, Radhika decided She did not wish to perform raasaleela on that day, but instead wanted to play hide and seek! Govinda gently suggested that perhaps hide and seek was not a good game to play in raasa bhoomi, as it was an open space and there was no pla

Maha Mantra.......Why?

It’s our tradition, or it’s an essential part of the program to chant the maha-mantra. … The whole idea is to chant the maha-mantra for some time before we attempt to make a serious or meaningful presentation in terms of knowledge. The example is just like at the beginning of the class – at least when I was a little boy – the teacher wiped the whole slate clean, and then we were ready for a new day. So it’s like that. It’s meant to kind of clear your mind and make it more receptive and attentive

the flute beeing kissed by Krishnas lips

"My dear gopis, what auspicious activities must the flute have performed to enjoy the nectar of Krishna's lips independently and leave only a taste for the gopis for whom that nectar is actually meant. [CC. Antya. 16.140]

"'Although the nectar of Krishn's lips is the absolute property of the gopis, the flute, which is just an insignificant stick, is forcibly drinking that nectar and loudly inviting the gopis to come drink it also. Just imagine the strength of the flute's austerities and good fort

krishna consciousness

The first and foremost principle of Krishna Consciousness is chanting the Hare Krishna mantra:“Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare”This mantra is a prayer to the Supreme Lord which means: “O energy of the Lord (Hare), O all-attractive Lord Krishna, O Supreme Enjoyer (Rama), please engage me in Your service.”As God and His name are nondifferent from Him and thus all-powerful (”Hallowed be the name of the Lord”), when we chant His hol

Srila Prabhupada's quotes.

Sydney

Letter to Mahatma

"So far your thinking about things and making so many plans, that is all right, but our first business is Krishna's plan. That is the only plan, and no matter how many schemes we employ to adjust things in this material world, if they have no solid basis in Krishna's plan, they remain merely dreams of phantasmagoria. So in this Krishna Consciousness Movement, I am training boys and girls all over the world how to act nicely by practically serving Krishna

envy

There are many persons who envy Krsna because He has explained in Bhagavad-gita that He is the Supreme and that nothing is above Him or equal to Him. There are many persons who are envious of Krsna. Such persons should not be told of Bhagavad-gita, for they cannot understand. There is no possibility of faithless persons' understanding Bhagavad-gita and Krsna.

>>> Ref. VedaBase => Bg 18.67

In the material world, everyone is envious of everyone else, and therefore there is competition. But the tran

Sweet Like Sugar Candy

krsna%2Bwith%2Bcow%2Band%2Bflute.jpg
The holy name, character, pastimes and activities of Krsna are all transcendentally sweet like sugar candy. Although the tongue of one afflicted by the jaundice of avidya (ignorance) cannot taste anything sweet, it is wonderful that simply by carefully chanting these sweet names every day, a natural relish awakens within his tongue, and his disease is gradually destroyed at the root.

Travelling bus program

In Sydney, tall, red-headed Mohanananda had a vast reservoir of energy and enthusiasm, as well as substantial entrepreneurial skills. He and his wife, Sasti, had brought incredible vision and optimism to the temple, especially since they had just come from the Los Angeles temple, which was the forerunner in all things new, revolutionary and exciting in ISKCON. His ideas were endless. Some, like that of staging a Krsna conscious rock opera -- inspired by Hair -- never left t

All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga.

Sri Vyasadeva says herein that the manifested internal potency is real, whereas the external manifested energy is in the form of material existence is only temporary and illusory like the mirage in the desert. In the desert mirage there is no actual water, there is only appearance of water. real water is somewhere else..

This converse is tricky one as i feel...

Realization Of Spiritual Happiness

When we have to practice spiritual austerity to make spiritual advancement, when we have to sacrifice some so called material activities to which we are conditioned, then we must realize that in exchange for this there will be realization of spiritual happiness.
