The King’s Lesson On Charity

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

A person was advised by a holy man to gift a vegetable a day and told that he would attain great merit by doing so.
The poor man strictly followed the advice. After death, he was reborn in a royal family and grew up to become a king. He was able to recall what he had done in his past birth. So, he continued to gift a vegetable a day.
Surprisingly, after death, he was reborn as a beggar. The man was unable to comprehend t

Thought Of The Day

So there are different classes of men, crow society and swan society. The swan society is different from the crow society. How you can make equal? The people are making, try to make classless society. It is not possible to make classless society because every living entity is being controlled by a different quality. So the qualitative distinction must be there. You cannot make them classless. It is all imagination. The crow class, the swan class, the pigeon class, the dog class, even in the anim

Association is the Beginning

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
In order to become a devotee of Krishna we must associate with devotees — satam prasangan mama virya-samvidah [associating with pure devotees through discussions of Krishna's wonderful activities] [Bhag. 3.25.25]. If there is some piety in ones background then one will come in contact with a devotee. By mixing, associating with a devotee, our knowledge about salvation

The Warrior And The Monk

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Once a warrior asked a monk: "What is the difference between heaven and hell?"
The monk replied: "You ignorant brute, you are nothing but a savage. Why would I waste my time on you?"
Filled with anger and hatred, the warrior started beating the monk.
After a few minutes, the warrior realised what a heinous act he was committing and stopped.
The monk smiled and said: "That fit of anger is hell".
The warrior was so ashamed of h

Krishna Consciousness !2514869760?profile=original

Once a devotee asked Srila Prabhupada that what is required for me to become Krishna Conscious?

Srila Prabhupada gave one word answer, desire.
That is what required to become Krishna conscious.
Everything is based on our desire. Even when we chant the holy names, Krishna responds according to our desire. When we are reading Shrimad Bhagvatam, Bhagvad Gita, Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita, Krishna reveals the essence of these messages according to our desire. By associating with

RADHEY RADHEY

Radhey Radhey...

O'er the neue Jahr weekend maid, me and mom landed in Vrindavan. I'd been wanting to go there a while, and it was strange that in all these years in Delhi, I never had. The first sight, isn't pretty. There are animals all around like the cows and pigs you see in India, blocking traffic, jumping from one open drain to another, feeding on food from open garbage dumps- which are visible in every galli and kucha. And that's not pretty, you could call me snobbish, but seriously.

I LOVE KRISHNA

hough the issue of freedom has long since revolved around government’s restriction of it, the real yearning for liberty comes from within the spirit soul, who cannot even act out its natural propensity when residing within a large body and having a giant field to run on. Only through the proper outlets is the natural love found within the heart allowed to be set free, to run in every which direction without exhaustion. For a soul constantly in touch with the divine consciousness, a liberated ind

KRISHNA LOVE

Prabhupada: ...He was traveling in South India. He saw one brahmana reading Bhagavad-gita. And persons who knew him, that "That man was illiterate," it was not possible for him to read Bhagavad-gita... But still, he was trying to read it, and crying also. So while others were criticizing, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came to him, "Brahmana, what you are reading?" So he could understand that "This person, He's not come here to criticize me. He's serious." So he talked seriously, "Sir, I am reading Bhagav

Once I [Bhakti Caru Swami] expressed a desire to learn Sanskrit to Srila Prabhupada. But Srila Prabhupada discouraged me asking, "Why you want to learn Sanskrit?" I gave him various reasons but Srila Prabhupada said, "No, there is no need to learn Sanskrit." But then he finally said, "You read my books and you will learn Sanskrit." But then he elaborated, "What is the point in learning Sanskrit? There are so many Sanskrit scholars but what are they doing? They ar

Poverty means poverty of knowledge

Poverty means poverty of knowledge

Posted: 25 May 2012 08:56 PM PDT

Poverty means poverty of knowledge. Prime minister Canakya Pandit used to live in a thatched house or cottage but he was the dictator of India in the days of Emperor Candra Gupta. Mahatma Gandhi your political Guru voluntarily accepted the ways of the so called poor Indians and still he was the dictator of India’s destiny. But was he actually poverty sticken on account of his plain living with the primitive charkha? He was always

Thought Of The Day

The Kali begins with this animal killing. That is Kali-yuga. Meat-eating. Therefore, to avoid the influence of Kali we have to give up this habit. The four things are Kali's disciple, friends. We have already discussed this. So one friend is this meat-eating problem, the butchers, Kali's friends. And the liquor distiller, he's also Kali's friend. And the gamblers or the gambling house maintainer. And prostitute house maintainer. These are friends of Kali. Now you will find all over the world the
