At the Friday-night harinam in Auckland, I was lurking around the peripheries of the devotees and talking to passersby. I felt a bit intimidated to talk to her, as she held herself with gravity and had a look on her face which I grossly mistook to be fear or at the least distaste. I approached her anyway, and in response to my attempts at small talk, she reached into her handbag and pulled out “J

We should not approach the Supreme Being some material benefit. Material benefit is already there. Everything is arranged by the Supreme Lord for everyone's necessities of life. There is no question about that. Just like if a person is in the prison house, that prisoner has no problem for his material necessities. The government has arranged already for his eating, sleeping and, if he is sick, medical help. That is not problem. The problem is that he has become criminal by transgressing the laws

On Monday, the 20th of May 2013, I went to mangal-aratik, as usual. I did not immediately realize that in doing so I had locked myself out of my sankirtan van, as I forgot the keys in the ignition lock. Neither did I realize that this was, in fact, Krishna’s special plan to bless an employee of the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland with two books.
Krishna says in Bhagavad-gita: “mattah smrtir jnanam apohanam ca, ..from Me comes remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness.”

Scriptures compare human body to a boat which should be used to cross over the ocean of material existence. Facilities given to the human bodies are like favourable breezes and scriptures and saintly people are like expert boatmen. All these help the boat to ply smoothly in the ocean of material existence. If we are not utilizing these facilities then we are categorized as atma – ha, killer of the soul. And the killer of the soul has to live in abject misery always. So, let us not waste these p

When Krishna speaks - it is the absolute truth - beyond all imperfections, beyond all limitations that is revealing Himself to us and the proper way to hear Gita, with folded hands, is to approach the words of Krishna as non-different than the lotus feet of the God directly; Bhagavan means that Krishna possess all six opulences in full - Krishna posses all knowledge, all

A devotee should always act in terms of guru, sadhu, and sastra.
With regard to a posting to my account on facebook, I found a toxic post with regard to other Vaisnavas(whom I have no relation with) and felt impelled to at least comment in principle, to not saying anything would implicate me also. What was even more saddening was that the post had so many 'likes'. From experience many devotees innocently get caught up in actions and do not fully understand the repercussions.
