भज गोविन्दं भज गोविन्दं, गोविन्दं भज मूढ़मते।
त्राण नहीं सन्निकट मरण से, अपर सूत्र तज मूढ़मते॥१॥
अर्थ:
हे मूर्ख, भगवान का बार-बार भजन कर। मृत्यु के समीप आने पर सीखी हुई सारी विद्याएँ निर्रथक हो जाती हैं। इसलिए तू भगवान की हीं शरण ले, उन्हीं को पुकार।
आदि शंकराचार्य ऐसे गाते थे जैसे उनकी जिह्वा पर देवी सरस्वती का वास हो। इस श्लोक में भी शायद देवी स्वयं उनके मुख से संसारी प्राणी से कह रही है

He's Krsna Himself. Krsna is so kind. First of all He came as the Supreme Personality of Godhead and He demanded as God's order, "You surrender," but people did not do it. If one disregards and disrespects Vaishnavas, he commits an offence. Sinful reactions are nullified simply by undergoing ordinary atonement; but offences are not nullified so easily. A sin is committed by both gross and subtle bodies; an offence degrades one's self-realization. Therefore, those who desire to worship the Supreme Lord must be careful not to commit offences.
