Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: What you want more? It is up to you. He has explained everything, what is karma-yoga, what is jnana-yoga, what is dhyana-yoga, what is bhakti-yoga, what is the ultimate goal-sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam [Bg. 18.66] --  He has explained everything. KRISHNA......OUR REAL FRIEND

Mention the word Mahabharat, which warrior comes to your mind? Most probably Arjun. How many people would say Krishna? It was Arjun who killed the great Bhishma. It was Arjun who killed Drona. It was Arjun who killed Jaydrata. How about Krishna? Krishna was just a charioteer, following the commands of Arjun.

While Arjun was standing in his elevated beautiful chariot under the shade of a very beautiful umbrella, Krishna was sitting at his feet, under the hot sun, dutifully driving the chariot

Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: Krsna has many names. Krsna has name Govinda. It is not three letters. It is more than that. Krsna has so many thousands names. Advaitam acyutam anadim ananta. So therefore Krsna advises for the beginners, "Just try to remember Me in this way-raso 'ham apsu kaunteya [Bg. 7.8] -- I am the taste of the water." The water you must be drinking twice, thrice, four times. So when you drink water, the taste satisfies your thirst. So if you simply remember, "This taste is Krsna," that is Krsn

Never have time to read?

I would say that in our movement, one of the great causes why devotees are becoming dry in their spiritual practices is because they don’t get absorbed in reading. Because you see, chanting is something you do because we measure it- 16 rounds- so it is sort of very clear. But we don’t do like one hour of…we don’t vow one hour reading, we just don’t vow it. So we don’t give it the same urgency but it practically has the same urgency. It’s very important- very, very important. If we are not readin

Types of prayers

Types of prayers

(from Gauòéya Vaiñëava Abhidhana)

1. Samprarthanatmika - direct prayer glorifying the Lord. We have many examples of this type of prayer in Narottama Dasa's Prarthana.

2. Svadhainyabodhika - expressing humility and embarrassment, informing the Lord: I am very fallen.

3. Manah-siksa - examples are Bhajahu Re Mana by Govinda das or Manah-siksa by Raghunatha das Gosvami. In this type of prayer the mind becomes a disciple and we teach it how to deal with the senses and relate to inte
