tesam--for them; eva--certainly; anukampa-artham--to show special mercy; aham--I; ajnana-jam--due to ignorance; tamah--darkness; nasayami--dispel; atma--within; bhavasthah--themselves; jnana--of knowledge; dipena--with the lamp; bhasvata--glowing.

bhajatam priti-purvakam
dadami buddhi-yogam tam
yena mam upayanti te

SYNONYMS

tesam--unto them; satata-yuktanam--always engaged; bhajatam--in devotional service; priti-purvakam--in loving ecstasy; dadami--I give; buddhi-yogam--real intelligence; tam--that; yena--by which; mam--unto Me; upayanti--come; te--they.

TRANSLATION

To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

Prabhupada: Yes. Real religion is how to love God. And love cannot be done without knowing the person whom you love. That is the criterion, test. So if you have no conception, God, His personality, then how you'll love? Where is the question of love? Love is something tangible. It is not fictitious. I felt Prabhupada's pulse and thought it was a little weaker and slower, around sixty beats a minute.  Guru-krpa Swami was leading kirtana softly when suddenly Srila Prabhupada said, "Yasomati-nandana, Yasomati-nandana."  Guru-krpa immediately broke into Yasomati-nandana braja-baro-nagara.  Prabhupada smiled slightly.

Next morning, Bhavananda Maharaja, Satadhanya Maharaja, and Subhaga arrived.  Prabhupada talked with Subhaga about Mayapur for a while.  He has always been anxious to hear the news since the attack by the Muslims.  Bhavananda and I came in at 7:00 p.m.  Bhavananda gave Prabhupada details about Mayapur.  He said everything was pleasant there now, that they had been released by the magistrates for travelling and preaching

Now for some philosophy. This pesky question always bothered me before I came across Srila Prabhupada's books. Never thought the answer would be so straight forward.

Basically, there's always "something" because "nothing" does not exist. Logically speaking, if "nothing" "existed", it will immediately become "something" because it exists.
