Hare Krsna!

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

We know how important harinama is. So, in the mid-1970s, Srila Prabhupada encouraged Lokanath Swami to do a bullock-cart padayatra and take the chanting of the holy name all over India. The Indian padayatra is still going, and padayatris not only chant but distribute books, a lot of them. They’re beating both the brhat (big) mrdanga as well as the khola (clay) mrdanga. In May, they reported almost 19,000 book point

You Can Do It!

2515193552?profile=original

By Mahatma das

I was checking for a document on my computer and came across a letter I wrote to a devotee who had recently come back to devotional service.

Over the years he had his ups and downs and wrote me out of concern that this pattern might continue. He feared that he might leave devotional service again.

You might say, “Well I haven’t fallen away from Krishna consciousness, so how does this letter relate to me?” I think we all constantly battle internally with falling away from Krishna

By Madhava Smullen for ISKCON New Vrindaban Communications

Archival Research by Chaitanya Mangala Das

It’s a crisp, frosty November day in the Appalachian foothills of West Virginia, bare trees silhouetted against a clear blue sky. On one hilltop, an unusually royal building stands out, sunlight glinting off its gold-filigreed domes and spires.

Participants of ISKCON New Vrindaban and ECO-Vrindaban’s winter 2016 Board Meetings, wrapped up warmly in coats and scarves, are being shown the latest

SB. 11. 29. 9

TRANSLATION

Always remembering Me, one should perform all his duties for Me without becoming impetuous. With mind and intelligence offered to Me, one should fix his mind in attraction to My devotional service.

PURPORT

The words mad-dharmātma-mano-ratiḥ mean that all of one’s love and affection should be devoted to pleasing the Supreme Personality of Godhead. It is not indicated here that one should try to relish selfish satisfaction in devotional service, but rather that one shou

Call Each Other Gopi?

Is it Okay to Call Each Other Gopi?

By Khonika Gope-Kumar

“Wow! You look like a beautiful gopi!”
“The sweetest gopi ever :-) ”

Two of my “devotee” girlfriends recently commented on a Facebook picture of mine. And that left me very uncomfortable.

Though since childhood, I was used to being called “gopi” by my classmates and coworkers as my surname had been “Gope”, however, that never made me uncomfortable. I knew those karmi people did not have any clue what they were referring to. But my devote

Lord Narayana speaking to Gopa Kumara

Lord Narayana speaking to Gopa Kumara:

“Welcome, welcome, my dear boy! I am fortunate – most fortunate – to meet you here. For so long I have been eager to see you! My dear friend, you have passed many lifetimes without paying any attention to me at all. For so long hope had me dancing like a fool thinking, ‘Perhaps in this lifetime, or this, or this, or this, he will finally turn his face toward me.’ But I could find no pretext on which to bring you to my abode, dear brother, and still follow

“We never thought a spiritual event could be so much fun – we would love to come again!” wrote one family after attending the Children’s Summer Camp in New Vrindaban last year.

“Wonderful event – we can’t wait till next year,” wrote another. “Our son says he will miss New Vrindaban very badly.”

These families are in luck. After the very well-received first New Vrindaban Children’s Summer Camp drew around 25 families from up and down the East Coast, organizers Sundari Dasi and

It was our great honour to receive the visit by Crown Prince of Udaipur Rajasthan His Highness Prince Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar who comes in the lineage of great king of Mewar (Rajasthan – capital is Udaipur) Maharana Pratapa and great devotee Meera Bai. I had the opportunity to receive him to our temple, took him around our temple area including our Tulasi house, he was very impressed with how Tulasai Maharani was well cared and looked after in Melbourne (cold place). It takes about three pairs of shoes to walk across the United States.

At least that’s according to Bhaktimarga Swami, a 63-year-old Canadian born monk (formerly John Peter Vis) who has embarked on a transnational marathon walk of 3,000 miles across the United States from New York City to San Francisco on the Old Lincoln Highway.

Met with incredulous stares from passersby, this man, who follows the monastic lifestyle of the Hare Krishna order, dresses in an orange robe and he typ

“Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four?" - PAUL MC CARTNEY; JOHN LENNON

When I was 64, I first published this blog. Today, June 22, is my 67th birthday, and I find the message I share here even more important, as over the last year and a half I have had to literally stare death in the face. Growing up in the 1960s I naturally remember the Beetle’s song, “When I’m Sixty-Four.” Yeah, after 47 years of bhakti practice those old songs (and ad jingles!) are still floatin

Appreciating Mother Aditya

2515193047?profile=original

Yesterday, on Ekadasi, Aditya dasi left her body in Sri Vrindavan dhama, while a close devotee was chanting in her ear. She was a pure, devoted soul who sincerely served Srila Prabhupada and his Lords for the last forty-five years. She was our secretary in Juhu, and after Prabhupada’s departure she did wonderful service in his quarters. To assist me with the preaching, she even visited Pakistan, where she was much appreciated and loved by the local ladies. Later, when I was kept out of India be
