“In that planet of Satyaloka, there is neither bereavement, nor old age nor death. There is no pain of any kind, and therefore there are no anxieties, save that sometimes, due to consciousness, there is a feeling of compassion for those unaware of the process of devotional servi

This morning I read a posting by Vijaya Dasa, ISKCON’s Minister of Book Distribution, in which he relates an interesting encounter he had heard described after one of his classes:

When in Alachua I gave a Bhagavatam class about book distribution, a Vaishnavi, Guru Prasad dasi, commented on an experience she had had distributing books.

She was distributing at the Dallas airport without much success, but she was still happily approaching people.

A lady sitting nearby was watching and finally walk

If the name ISKCON conjures montages of Dev Anand’s 1971 blockbuster film Hare Rama Hare Krishna to mind, you are not alone. Many have associated the decadence of the hippie culture depicted in the film with the Vaishnava religious movement, but that is only one side of the coin. Although many of the initial followers happened to be hippies, ISKCON has evolved into something more. But it begs the question. How did the hippies cotton on to ISKCON?

“ISKCON, which turned 50 last year, was incorpor

Vaishnavas like Prahlada Maharaja are always present wherever the topics of Srimad Bhagavatam are discussed. Those who worship Srimad Bhagavatam are beyond the jurisdiction of Kali.

Those persons who worship the Vaishnava literature Srimad Bhagavatam in their house are freed from all sins and they become worshipable by even the demigods.

In the age of Kali, I become very pleased with those who regularly worship Srimad Bhagavatam in their house and dance without fear.

O My dear son, as long as S

The Art of Meaningful Friendship

2515195105?profile=original

(Notes from a class given by Hari Pārṣada Dāsa on 2nd July 2017 at the home of Narottam Prabhu and Manjari Mataji)

Basic Principle 1: Every relationship has an expiry date attached to it:

bandhu-jñāty-ari-madhyastha-mitrodāsīna-vidviṣaḥ

Translation: In this material world, which advances like a river that carries away the living entity, all people become friends, relatives and enemies in due course of time. (Śrīmad-bhāgavatam 6.16.5)

It is wise therefore, to stay a bit detached in general.

What a week of Vaisnava sadhu-satsanga this has been! I leave the richer, having exchanged with my family members, old and new, Godbrothers, Godsisters, nephews and nieces. While I feel most unqualified to speak to you today, I am honoured and privileged to join my Godsisters in voicing my concerns as a woman in ISKCON.

As the GBC body, all of you are responsible for establishing Srila Prabhupada’s legacy, which, in these difficult and turbulent times, is at stake. One realm of that legacy – th

Turin Hare Krishna Cultural Center in Italy has celebrated the 2nd Anniversary.
It is a miraculous story like the ones of Srila Prabhupada! Prabhu das, Hayagriva das and Abhiram das came to Turin, Italy, to establish ISKCON Turin with nothing in their hands. It was a mission given to them by H.G. MadhuSevita Prabu.
They had only their camper and a desire to give the Holy Name to the city of Turin. With the power of sadhana bhakti, they started preaching and distributing books in Turin and the l

2515194441?profile=original

Indradyumna Swami: Yesterday we held our first festival of the summer. As I looked at the photos I realized they could have come from any of the 1,200 festivals we have done along the Baltic Sea coast over the last 28 years. But then I realized that each festival is unique in itself, for every year the guests at our events are different. Remembering a purport from Srimad Bhagavatam, I was struck with wonder how by participating in our programs many hundreds of thousands of people [ Srila Prabhu

Srila Prabhupada: Nowadays people are very much inclined to the meditational process, which is not practical in this age, but if anyone practices meditating on Krishna twenty-four hours a day by chanting the Hare Krishna mantra round his beads, he is surely the greatest meditator and the greatest yogi. Yoga of the Tongue

2515194295?profile=original

The most important and uncontrollable sense is the tongue. If one can control the tongue, then there is every possibility of controlling the other senses. The function of the tongue is to taste and to vibrate. Therefore, by systematic regulation, the tongue should always be engaged in tasting the remnants of foodstuffs offered to Kṛṣṇa and chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. Although one may conquer all of the other senses, as long as the tongue is not conquered it cannot be said that one has controlled his s
