As I flew to L.A. from Hawaii, I brought a very fragrant flower garland. When I arrived at the Temple, I wanted to personally garland him, but a devotee guard downstairs from his room stopped me. I thought about going into his room anyway, though I was too hesitant and fearful. Eventually Prabhupada came down to give his lecture---it was the disappearance day of his guru, Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur. I was introduced by the local GBC and gave him the garland. Compassion – Wealth of Divine beings

2515211855?profile=original

By Bhaktivedanta Vidyapitha

If we understand the underlying cause of what we think of as bad in someone, instead of being hateful, we will be compassionate ……
The below article is an answer to the Open Book Exam (Canto 6.1-9) to the question: Parikshit was compassionate to conditioned souls despite having only a few days to live. To what extent may a sadhaka imbibe this spirit?

The compassion exhibited by Parikshit Maharaj is indeed exemplary. Although he had a few days to live, still he inter

From Back to Godhead

By Chaitanya Charana Dasa

The supreme controller is controlled – and still remains in control.

Prayer is the universal language by which the human heart communes with the divine heart. Poetry is an artistic means for verbalizing the heart’s deep emotions. Singing is a popular method to express one’s emotions.

The integration of these three – prayers composed poetically and sung individually or collectively – is a powerful and joyful way to channel human emotions

Three modes of material nature

2515211939?profile=original

By Chirag Dangarwala

In Bhagavad-Gita 14th Chapter, Lord Krishna explains the three modes of natures that are controlling the activities of all the living entities in the material world. Lord Krishna says,

sattvaḿ rajas tama iti
guṇāḥ prakṛti-sambhavāḥ
nibadhnanti mahā-bāho
dehe dehinam avyayam [ B.g 14.5]

“Material nature consists of three modes — goodness, passion and ignorance. When the eternal living entity comes in contact with nature, O mighty-armed Arjuna, he becomes conditioned by

I would like this work to be considered a contribution not only to the study of the Bhagavad Gita, but to the emerging field of Comparative Theology, as once the structures of great theological works could be articulated, these could be compared, contrasted and grouped together, thereby offering a unified sense of pluralistic spirituality which may serve as an alternative to materialism. Originally, Greek philosophy was inseparable from Greek religion, and only gradually

By Padmapani das

Our dear Godbrother, Tribhuvanatha das, departed from this world on October 16, 2001. A lot has been written about Tribhuvanatha Prabhu over the years — his dynamic preaching programs, his ecstatic harinamas, his fired up classes, etc. — but I simply remember him as my best friend.

Over the years there were so many special times that we shared together in England, India and the Middle East. Wherever we met the nectar always flowed with Prabhupada-katha. Sometimes due to flight

On a recent sunny morning, Dr. Piyush Gupta was gazing across a broad expanse of land just west of Hilliard.

Many might just see a dew-covered field dotted with groups of trees, but Gupta can imagine a large, white stone temple rising up from the ground.

The site, just off Walker Road, is the future home of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness Columbus, of which Gupta is a council member. ISKCON is a society for Hare Krishnas, who believe meditation can purify one’s
