This year, Sri Ganga Puja falls on June 12. Instead of reposting the glories of her appearance, one can refer to last year’s link for more information. The following is one of many sweet narrations from the Sri Caitanya-mangala, Adi-khanda 5 (translated by Subhag Swami<!– and published by Mahanidhi Swami, 1994). It describes the intimate relationship between Sri Ganga-devi and Lord Caitanya.

“Now everyone, please listen to another day of the Lord’s pastimes. During the enchanting evening atmosp

His Holiness Bhakti Rasamrita Swami Maharaj gave an enlivening and enlightening 4 part seminar on “The Sacred Rivers of India” at the Bhaktivedanta Manor, UK.
Maharaj spoke about the importance of rivers in general. He recounted how rivers are India’s lifeline and how they enjoy a special place in prayers and its traditional practices. Most of the pilgrimages in India like Varanasi, Haridwar, Talakaveri, Nasik, Ujjain and Patna are situated along the banks of these seven rivers. The Triveni San

In an article entitled “Born to Bun: Labels to Tell Meat’s Life Story” (New York Daily News, April 4, 2013), journalist James Warren informs us about the Obama administration’s recent move to get new information on food labels in the supermarket, specifically on meat products. They now want to let consumers know where the animal was born, raised, and slaughtered. Might this be too much information?

The USDA argues that such labeling is a step toward transparency, benefiting consumers on many le

India Next Year by Giriraj Swami

On Friday my chiropractor told me, “I think you will be ready to go to India next year. You withstood the travel to the East Coast well—your body feels strong and resilient—and I think you will be able to manage the trip to India.”

He had never said anything like that to me before, and his words had the ring of truth to them. I believe that, Krishna willing, I may actually go to India next year, and that made me feel very happy.

The Lord is one without a second. He is inconceivable and He takes unlimited forms. Of all these forms, the form of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is particularly extraordinary because in this form he is the maha vadanyaya avatar, the most merciful incarnation.

He appeared in the land of Gauda, specifically in the land of Navadvipa Mandala, being in Sri Dhama Mayapur, particularly in the Yoga-Pitha, in Antardvipa, in the central island of the 9 islands of Navadvipa. The Lord appeared under a neem tree

"To show compassion to others in this world is the greatest way of pleasing the Supreme Lord." - Radhanath Swami.

Compassion is one of the core quality of a civilized and a refined person. And for a spiritual practitioner who wants to experience higher levels of consciousness and please the Supreme Consciousness, the quality of compassion is of utmost importance. Compassion is defined in the Oxford dictionary as "a strong feeling of sympathy for people who are suffering and a desire to help t

"Life is a full circle. Everything comes back the way it is handled." - Elsie Mathew

Once, I was drinking some fruit juice in a stainless steel glass in our ashram. I had to leave for some place in a hurry. I left the glass thinking that someone would wash it. I came back after two days and saw that the glass was there in the exact place I had kept it, as if waiting for me. The irony is that not only I had to wash it personally but it took me more time and energy because by now the juice partic

“What is night for all beings is the time of awakening for the self-controlled; and the time of awakening for all beings is night for the introspective sage.” BG 2.6
It could be said that any time of the day is the best time of the day for connecting with transcendence – remembering you are not this body, and meditating on the sweet love of the soul that is the essence of Krishna consciousness. However, when Prabhupada was asked what is the best time for chanting japa, meditating on Krishna’s

After taking sannyasa, Lord Caitanya, by a trick of Lord Nityananda, met all the devotees from Bengal, including Mother Saci. Lord Caitanya had a transcendental mood. He said, “What have I done? I was mad. Somehow or other, I took sannyasa in a fit of madness. How could I give up my mother? But now it is too late – now it is done!”

Upon hearing this, Mother Saci said, “I beg that I may be allowed to cook this week and that I will be the only one to cook.” Everyone wanted to cook, but it was Mot

Kalakanta, Uttama, Connor and I took a drive to the famous Niagara Falls.  For Kala and Connor it was their first glimpse and gawk; for me, a needed breath of fresh air.  https://www.instagram.com/p/BxcGEq1A5qD/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1t8j3ru9hnzzg

I do owe many of you an accounting of my health condition, which very recently could have been life threatening if not checked in time.

On April 24th, 2019, I woke up from sleep, in the town of Flacq, Mauritius, with a new kind of pain.

The day began with a thought-provoking presentation on Ethics and Morality in ISKCON, delivered by HG Rasamandala Dasa. This provided food for thought for a group exercise where devotees broke into sub-teams to discuss key moral and ethical issues facing ISKCON and working out our position on these.

After prasadam, HG Anuttama Dasa ran a practical and lively session on the Art of Public Speaking, where he shared practical tips that devotees can implement immediately. The ISKCON E

In order for the thesis of this article to be appreciated we will first discuss the underlying context of the scriptures- we might call this the paradigm of Vaishnava teaching.

Srila Prabhupada wrote:

The devotees of the Lord understand that it is maya’s influence that has spoiled the people and made them demoniac. Thus the inherently noble disposition of the devotees leads them to think only of the demons’ benefit, without a tinge of envy (RTW 1.3).

Mahaprabhu Das introducing Willy Fautre from HRWF

By Mina Sharma

Day Two of the European Communications Conference began with a very relevant and hard hitting talk by Willy Fautre of Human Rights Without Frontiers (HRWF). This led to much discussion about various cases of abuse of human rights on the basis of religious belief and how HRWF has helped. It was also a fascinating opportunity to learn about the importance of PR and lobbying to raise awareness and tackle these issues.

Next was an e

Bridge of Sighs by Jagabandhu dasa

When I work in hospitals I am always very moved by the great suffering and despair of the souls who by circumstance happen to be there, whether patient or hospital worker. Because of this, as I traverse the various stairwells, elevators, corridors and rooms I whisper Hari! Hari! over and over again, pleading for His Divine Presence to Descend and benefit the suffering jivas.

Often I am left in a room working alone, pondering how many people have died in that particular room and I begin to gentl

A lifetime dream is finally being fulfilled as Prabhupada disciple Mahendranath Das captains his Sailing Temple, “The Jai Nimai Nitai,” 16,000 nautical miles from Mississippi, USA to Mayapur, India. The trip began in July 2018 and will likely end in November this year.

After joining ISKCON in 1972 in San Antonio, Texas, Mahendranath helped reconstruct the temple in New Orleans, and was one of the pioneers of the New Talavana farm near Picayune.

The idea that would drive him

I walked a bit of Tottenham, and then we drove to Brampton, then Toronto, Ontario, on this fine but cloudy Mother’s Day.  I introduced the latter two communities to Kalakanta, but before doing so read a passage from the magazine “Spirit Soul” from   https://iskconnews.org/new-magazine-spirit-soul-makes-bhakti-yoga-accessible,6602/   It was a powerful message.

ISKCON: More Gurus Needed!

By Kripamoya dasa

Whether you like it or not, Jehovah’s Witnesses are always ready to do two things (1) Distribute books (2) Sit down and talk with you, and help you to understand. ISKCON has many book distributors, but we need more gurus.

After people have read one of Srila Prabhupada’s books, and if they want to know more, their first question is often something like this: “How can I find out more about all this? Do you have any meetings in my town?” or “Are there any other Krishna people liv
