When deceitfulness and hypocrisy have become the way of life for the majority of the population, when humility is considered weakness and simplicity is looked upon as illiteracy, when selfishness is hailed as smartness and compassion is laughed at as sentimentalism, meeting a person who is unquestionably honest, unpretentiously humble, spontaneously compassionate and spotlessly simple at heart, yet impressively sophisticated, fiercely dynamic, awfully uncompromising and e

In 1968, Gordon John Erdman was initiated by Srila Prabhupada in Montreal, Canada, and given the name Jayapataka dasa. The name Jayapataka is translated as “victory flag,” and has proved to be truly befitting of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja, who has ceaselessly championed the cause of Srila Prabhupada and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu undeterred by any kind of challenges.

On Kamada Ekadasi, which falls on the 27th of March 2018, His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja’s 69th Vyasa Puja will

Mahatma das: Ignore the Mind!
Our acaryas advise us to learn to ignore our mind. Why? Well, we shouldn’t ignore it when we are thinking of Krsna. But in our conditioned state, the mind really has a mind of its own. When we decided to become devotees, the mind didn’t agree. And it still is resisting surrender. When the mind presents thoughts that are detrimental to our Krsna consciousness – or to our well being – we can jokingly tell our mind, “Thank you for sharing,” and decide to connect more

Conviction cannot be based on intellectual understanding. Are we convinced that Krsna consciousness is true? Yes, I am because it makes sense. But that’s just the beginning and it is a lot more than that. It has to be experienced in the heart. It must be really felt that Krsna consciousness is the most wonderful thing. That’s living on the cutting edge and spiritual life is about living on the cutting edge!

It cannot become routine because as soon as it does then we get into trouble. We start t

So humility is the key element in our spiritual life. Humility means that we are ready to put our own ideas aside, and that is an essential element in humility. It is not that necessarily one is always walking with the head a little bowed down, looking at the ground with folded hands – that may not necessarily be humble. Humble is simply that we are ready to accept others as our superiors and we’re open to accept guidance from others. That is true humility. So humili

The lotus feet of our spiritual master are the only way by which we can attain pure devotional service. I bow to his lotus feet with great awe and reverence. By his grace one can cross the ocean of material suffering and obtain the mercy of Krsna.

Spiritual Apathy…why?

2515114770?profile=original

It does not take long to realize, after writing a thing or two.. about a spiritual thing or two, to see that the greater audience of devotees are apathetic…especially when talking about the true goal of Krishna consciousness, developing pure love of Krishna. For true, it is not a flower in the sky… it is a million times more real than you presently are, or could ever imagine yourself to be. Because you without association, you default into prakriti bhakti…. Materialistic mind set attitude towar

The Stars and Us

In a recent conversation I heard about a person’s struggle with life, and having the ‘it never rains but it pours’ experience. “What did I do to deserve this?” he mused.

“Something”, I replied.

That was almost as painful for him to hear as his present situation. And he couldn’t accept it. “Are you telling me,” he ventured, “that I have caused as much pain to another that I am experiencing now?”

Yes, no one makes our bad karma that causes us pain. It may appear that others are doing it to us, or

By Dr. Ausra Maldeikiene

When I’m really happy, I cry: happiness is somewhere deep in the throat and it is excited by hope and light-carrying tears. Then, on March 11, 1990, I waited with tears in my eyes while watching television until late evening. Then, right after I heard the words proclaiming Lithuania’s Independence, sipped a glass of cognac – I remember that we had no champagne at home, and we all wanted the freedom to raise the glass of the most precious drink possible. True, the tears
