Gita Jayanti is the day on which Lord Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-gita to Arjuna. The Gita is also known as the Gitopanisad and is considered one of the Upanishads. The title Bhagavad-gita is sometimes translated as “The Song of God.” Gita means “song.” God, Krishna, is so sublime that whatever He speaks is music and poetry. The word bhagavan has been analyzed by Vedic authorities. Bhaga means “opulence” and is related to the word bhagya: “good fortune.” And van means “one who possesses.” So bhaga

For those whose lives have been forever improved by meeting Lord Krishna personally in the pages of the Gita, Gita Jayanti is not only a day of celebration but also a chance to express their gratitude. And the best way to do so is to share the Gita with others. Krishna Himself says, “There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear.” (Bg. 18.69)
The Gita teaches the essence of spiritual knowledge, purely and succinctly, in a way that anyone – in any
You are distributing this knowledge, so you become immediately recognized, very dear servant, very confidential servant of Krsna. He says personally. [Bg. 18.69]. “Amongst the human beings those who are doing this preaching, nobody is dearer than these persons to Me”. – Srila Prabhupada
Because Bhagavad-gita is spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one need not read any other Vedic literature. One need only attentively and regularly hear and read Bhagavad-gita. In the present age, peopl

This is the anniversary commemorating the day that Srimad Bhagavad Gita was spoken by Lord Sri Krishna to His dear-most devotee Arjuna.
It was spoken at the place now known as Jyotisar Tirtha amid the waring families of the Kurus and the Pandavas at Kurukshetra. If one wishes one can still go and visit that place and see the monument erected there with Krishna as Parthasarati (the chariot driver) and Arjuna the warrior on their chariot.
It is claimed by the ashram, which maintains the shrine, th
Print books, distribute profusely, and that will be the best preaching work. What will your three minutes preaching work—But if they buy one book, it may turn their life. (Srila Prabhupada Letter to Bhagavan, 5th November, 1972).------------ Message from HH Jayapataka Swami.

I sat comfortably at Gate B14 for a West Jet flight to Grande Prairie when I reached into my navy blue suitcase to pull out my blog book to enter my thoughts of reflection from the day before. When I unzipped that compartment, I found the side pocket of the suitcase empty. Perhaps I misplaced it and put it on another pocket, but, no its not there either. I suddenly realized that at security I picked the wrong piece of luggage and that someone. Has mine. An innocent mistake, nevertheless, I had

On November 7, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland, students from Dr. Bhadra Rupa’s School of Kirtan Performance and Composition performed their own original compositions (music and lyrics) inspired by the Ramayana at the United Nations in Geneva (UNOG). The event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the fifth annual “Faith for Rights” meeting. This was the only musical performance during the celebration.

On Gita Jayanti, the day of the advent of the Bhagavad-gita, spoken by Lord Krishna to Arjuna, I reflected on Srila Prabhupada and how he addressed members of the Gita Pratishthan (Gita Foundation) in India, in 1976. The way Srila Prabhupada dealt with the conference was exemplary and extraordinary as I shall relate.
In May a prominent industrialist named Ramkrishna Bajaj (almost everyone in India knows Bajaj Autos and Bajaj Electricals) wrote Srila Prabhupada that he was organizing a conferenc

On November 24, 2024, the Hare Krishna Tribal Care Center from Kukarmunda organized a spiritual pilgrimage to Shabari Dham, a sacred site in the Dang district of Gujarat. The trip, led by Nitaipad Das and Markatshyam Das, included 60 tribal devotees. The devotees took part in various religious activities such as offering aarti to Lord Ram and Mother Shabari, performing Nritya Sankirtan (holy name dance), and distributing prasadam (offered meal) to about 200 local tribals.

They were having a whole of a time. Actual whales- two humpbacks—wild and free. The announcement came on the overhead speakers. “You’ll see two whales to the left of the ferry.” Passengers on board shifted to that side of the ferry’s interiors (myself included) to view the couple with fins, enjoying their aquatic habitat.
It’s just hard for me to comprehend that some folks don’t believe in a creator when there is such wonder in the wilderness.

The desire to see God, to touch God, to talk to God is in itself probably the strongest argument for His existence; besides the logic and evidences from the scriptures, this direct experience is very significant indeed. Bringing Deity Worship from the insiders circle of elderly pujari-priests and making it part of the congregational development is probably the only way it may become part of the positive future for many places in ISKCON. While everyone hankers for direct experience of God in per

How we value, acquire, use, and relate to money reflects our inner state of being.
Sri Sukadeva Goswami said, “Money does not stay in one place. It passes from one hand to another. Ultimately no one can enjoy money, and it remains the property of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.” (Srimad-Bhagavatam 5.14.24) Money is God’s energy. He created it, He owns it, and He controls it: “Everything animate or inanimate that is within the universe is controlled and owned by the Lord

In this talk Sacinandana Swami recounts a mystical event that occurred at Bimal Kund, a spiritually significant location for God realization. He narrates the story of a devoted ascetic performing his worship when he was interrupted by two boys knocking on his door, requesting water to drink. Initially dismissive, the ascetic finally relented and poured water for one of the boys. As he looked into the boy's eyes, he was overwhelmed by their beauty and kindness, causing him to faint.
