ISKCON distributed food for 19 days out of 21 days initial Lockdown. Everyday almost 1000 food packets and water bottles were distributed.

Mainly this service was done with cooperation of Kerala police. They were working tirelessly in the hot sun. Many of our police friends were explaining about the struggle and the situation of migrants. Community kitchen were not established at that time. Gradually demand for the sanctified vege

Aim of our life is not to get free from lockdown, but from Maya.

Welcome to all of you. I’m also pleased to see all of you chanting from various places. We can see all the devotees on one screen after another. I’m also seeing you all, but you also would be seeing others. You will be experiencing that 1500 to 2000 devotees are chanting from 784 locations. This is very pleasing. This is very enlivening and inspirational news. When the Lord sees that all these devotees are chanting f

At a recent public lecture I attended the speaker was asked the above question by a respectable Muslim lady. Her full question was; given that we all believe in God, why are there so many different religions? While the speaker understood exactly what she was asking he diverted for a moment to suggest that unfortunately we do not all believe in God. Rather there is a significant and powerful lobby making extensive propaganda that Gods existence is a fallacy, a myth and that this lobby go under t

Just as the AIP reached Mahuva, a large town on the Arabian Sea coast in the Bhavnagar District of Gujarat, the Indian Government announced a three-week lockdown to inhibit the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the community. Initially, as people became aware that we are travelling all over India they were reluctant to provide us with anywhere to stay. The residents sa

Before formally meeting Hare Krishna devotees, I was one of those who ran in the opposite direction when I saw them coming. I used to think they were from another planet. Who are these guys with their chants and dancing in the street? Or are they going to hit me up for a donation?

But one day I had no choice, I was forced into a corner. The front door was open and a devotee knocked on the door. I had to let him in. I thought, since no one was home I will make this quick, a quick donation and ge

Srila Prabhupada’s Letter to Dr. W. H. Wolf-Rottkay, June 18, 1975:

Biological evolution is taking place on account of the soul’s desire. It takes place because of infection. If a man has smallpox virus, then he is subjected to smallpox. It is not that everyone is infected and everyone is attacked with smallpox disease. Only the person who is infected, he is attacked.

In this connection, Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita, purusah prakrti-stho hi bhunkte prakrti-jan gunan karanam guna sango ’sya

At the present the Corona virus is spreading like wild fire all over our planet, infecting millions and killing hundred thousands of men. We know from the history that this did not happen first time. There had been more severe pandemics in past 2000 years, infecting or even killing half of the planet inhabitants. As well as in the past as well as now scientists, leaders and general people have been trying to understand the cause, the cure and possible pre

Since March 22nd India has been under lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

While this has affected the entire country, but millions of low-income families, daily wager laborers, migrant workers, in particular, have been hit hard due to the closure of business and industries.

You may be glad to know that, despite all the physical and logistical challenges, ISKCON India and its affiliate foundations (Annamrita and India Tribal Care Trust) have served over 6 million (60 lakh) plates of prasadam sinc

Kaitavodharmaḥ nyāyaḥ (cheating religion)

Once am old lady was carrying a heavy load of wood on her head, from forest to home. At an uneven path she tripped, and the wood fell off, and scattered on the ground. Because she was pious she was earnestly calling out for Nārāyaṇa. Nārāyaṇa Himself appeared before her in full greatness. “What do you need mother that you are calling my name so earnestly.” She spontaneously answered, “I need this wood for cooking the lunch for my family. Please can you h

01. All to be served should be invited to sit on the floor, and prasadam should be served by qualified devotees.
02. Those who are served should be very clean, peaceful, and satisfied. They should eat before serving, if necessary. They should try not to speak while serving.
03. Serve just the right amount so that nothing is wasted.
04. Seniors should be served first. Householders should serve the guests. Old people and children should be served first.
05. Place salt and lemon on each plate befo

At New Jersey, my chores consisted of various household duties aside from my artwork for “Back to Godhead”. I cleaned the kitchen, washed Swamiji’s clothes – he was still called Swamiji at that time -, made the beds, mopped the floors, and cleaned everything. I enjoyed serving him any way I could and of course, I picked him roses every day. It was with great joy that I did everything. Kirtanananda however, did the cooking, as I was not trained in cooking. I had been a college student, just prio
