Burn the seed of lust

A seed is tiny in size but if watered regularly it grows into a gigantic tree. Similarly, any desire in our mind initially may appear to be extremely small however if we keep on nurturing that tiny little desire then slowly it becomes extremely big.  And that specific desire or thought starts affecting our daily life. How it happens? Suppose that we see an obscene picture in a newspaper or on a billboard (these are anyway plenty available these days), our mind like a blotting paper captures that

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada appeared in this world in 1896 in Calcutta, India. He first met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami, in Calcutta in 1922. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, a prominent religious scholar and the founder of sixty-four Gaudiya Mathas (Vedic institutes), liked this educated young man and convinced him to dedicate his life to teaching Vedic knowledge. A note of gratitude. Thankyou to all the Prabhu's who organized and worked so hard to push on Srila Prabhupada's Divine mission spreading love of God to every town and village....even in a far distant forrest in Serbia. Like Srila Prabhupada said "Our books are being read even in, what is that, Yugoslovakia, yes". Looks like Krsna consciousness is alive and well in the Balkans! The sat-sanga was nectar.

Specifics on Different Tilaks

The tilak is an external symbol of our surrender to Krishna, or to our object of worship. The shape and material used may differ according to the particular process of surrender the sampradaya follows.

In the Sri Vaishnava sampradaya the tilak is made out of the white mud found in anthills. The scriptures tell us that the mud from the base of a Tulasi plant and the white mud from within the ant hill are both pure and best for making tilak. The Sri Vaishnavas will draw two lines representing the

Thought Of The Day

Prabhupada: Yes. There must be some relation. Without relationship one cannot exist because he is part and parcel. Just like persons in the prison house. They are not out of government. There is relationship with the government, but that is indirect. The criminals, they do not appreciate the service of the government. Government is bothered about his existence. Some extra... Instead of receiving some service from him to the state, the state has got to spend unnecessarily for him. That is a bothe

Śrīla Prabhupāda vāṇī

Srila Prabhupada on the Bowery

Śrīla Prabhupāda vāṇī
Submitted by Vidura dasa

“When I was alone in your New York, I was thinking, who will listen to me in this horrible, sinful place? All right, I shall stay little longer, at least I can distribute a few of my books, that is something. But Krishna was all along preparing something I could not see, and He brought you to me one by one, sincere American boys and girls, to be trained-up for doing the work of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Now I can see that it is a miracle. Otherwise,

Jayananda das Sankirtan

…Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the incarnation of Godhead in this age has delivered the medicine for all problems of the world by his introducing the Sankirtan movement. The chanting is a process of purification. Just like we use soap to cleanse the body, this is material, but the chanting is spiritual cleansing.

…one should learn the art of chanting the Holy name of Krishna 24 hours a day and that alone is the remedy for all problems of material existence. How is it possible to chant 24 hours a

Meaning of Yoga

yoga_beach-sunsetclick on image to enlarge

When we think of Yoga, we used to think of some old bearded yogi standing on his head, or more recently of young beautiful men & women in athletic clothing posing serenely, or a class full of people stretching on yoga mats. But actually the meaning of yoga is far beyond any of the physical gymnastics we tend to associate with the word. There are many systems of yoga, namely; karma yoga, jnana yoga, dhayana yoga, hatha yoga, bhakti yoga, and so many patterns of yoga. But
