His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami is a disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, the founder acharya of ISKCON. His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami, ISKCON Guru and a member of GBC, was born in Bengal in 1945. His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami spent most of his early life in the city of Calcutta. In 1970, he left India to study in Germany. Coming across Vedic literatures while in Germany, he discovered the richness of India’s spiritual heritage. In 1975 he returned to India to wholeheartedly pursue the spiritual path.
After thoroughly studying the Vedic scriptures, His Holiness became aware of the need to find a spiritual master who could lead him on a sound spiritual course. After searching for one year without coming across a spiritual master to whom he could fully surrender, he felt despondent and disappointed. When he almost gave up his hope to find his spiritual master, he came across a book called The Nectar of Devotion by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Becoming engrossed in the depths of that literature, he realized that he had found his spiritual master and the path for which he was searching. As he continued to read Srila Prabhupada’s works, his conviction grew stronger, as did his desire to meet Srila Prabhupada. At that time, Srila Prabhupada was in America. His Holiness joined the temple in Mayapur and became more involved in devotional service to the Lord, all the while awaiting Srila Prabhupada’s return to India.
When Srila Prabhupada returned to India at the end of 1976, the meeting between His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami and Srila Prabhupada finally took place. From their very first meeting, Srila Prabhupada gave His Holiness the assignment of translating his books into Bengali and made him his Secretary for Indian Affairs. Within only a few months, Srila Prabhupada gave him initiation into the disciplic succession and soon thereafter, awarded him the order of Sannyasa in 1977.
Along side his official responsibilities, His Holiness translated all of Srila Prabhupada’s works on major Vedic literatures, consisting of more than fifty volumes of books, into Bengali, as Srila Prabhupada had instructed in their very first meeting. Subsequently, he became a member of the Governing Body Commission of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and served as the Chairman of the Governing Body in 1989. Since then he is serving ISKCON as a Governing Body Commissioner and an initiating Guru.
In 1996, His Holiness took on the mammoth task of making a biographical video epic on the life of his spiritual master, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. This video series, entitled Abhay Charan has been seen all over the world, as well as on Indian National Television. His Holiness is also developing projects in Ujjain, India. In February 2006, His Holiness constructed a beautiful temple in Ujjain. This is a very beautiful marble temple which is built in less than 10 months! The temple has three huge alters for the worship of Sri Sri Madan Mohan, Sri Sri Krishna Balaram and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai. This temple also have an Iternational Guest House, Govinda's Restaurant, Gift and Srila Prabhupada book shops, a Prashadam shop and a separate Jagannath temple where a Mid-day Meal praject is functioning. This project in conjugation with M.P. Government and ISKCON Ujjain feads more than 30,000 students. ISKCON Ujjain is also running various other departments such as Deity dress manufacturing, temple altars construction, Murti project which make deities of Srila Prabhupada and Guru Parampara. A primary school had already started to built up in ujjain and also multistory apartments are also going to be ready for the devotees all over the world to stay.

All glories to Bhakti Charu swami and his service to Srila Prabhupada's movement.
FROM THE GBC WEBSITE :
- Bhakti Charu Swami is from an aristocratic Bengali family and spent most of his early childhood in urban Kolkata. He met with Srila Prabhupada at the end of 1976 after a long and intense search for a spiritual teacher. This initial meeting resulted in Bhakti Charu Swami being assigned to translate the books of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust into the Bengali language. He was immediately made responsible as the secretary for Indian affairs and within a few months, Srila Prabhupada gave him initiation. Soon thereafter, Srila Prabhupada awarded Bhakti Charu Swami the order of sannyasa. In addition to his official responsibilities, Bhakti Charu Swami continued to translate all of Srila Prabhupada’s works, more than fifty volumes, into Bengali. Bhakti Charu Swami is an initiating spiritual master in ISKCON and has disciples all over the world.
- He became a member of the GBC in 1987 and served a term as chairman from 1989-1990. Bhakti Charu Swami’s GBC zonal assignments include Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India and is co-zonal secretary for Calcutta and Mayapur, West Bengal, and North Orissa and Puri.
- Besides the significant energy Bhakti Charu Swami has spent on the development of the Mayapur project, the Hare Krishna movement’s world headquarters, he has headed the establishment and the continuing development of a large temple project in Ujjain, Gujarat, where he spends significant amounts of time. Under his direction, more than 20,000 school children in Ujjain receive a daily meal and the program is expected to expand further. Another major accomplishment of Bhakti Charu Swami is the production of an epic biographical video series, Abhay Charan. Over 100 episodes illustrate the life of Srila Prabhupada and have been televised in India and other parts of the world.
- ISKCON members are known to appreciate Bhakti Charu Swami’s gentle ways and sweet singing of devotional songs and mantras. He assisted many devotees in understanding the etiquette of Gaudiya Vaishnavism as one of the original teachers at the Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education (VIHE) and continues to educate ISKCON’s members.

Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All
glories to your divine grace.
How wonderful it was to be with you on retreat again this year. Your working
knowledge of sastra continues to amaze me. It’s all at the fingertips of
your mind. You took us through the Ramayana in such an easy way; the stories
were flowing so freely from your lips, it’s as though you were recounting
events from your own life. Indeed, I am sure you were seeing these things,
not from the archives of your memory but rather from the core of your heart.
The same can be said for your command of slokas. You were singing and
quoting bhajans with considerable ease. Slokas, bhajans and the exalted
prayers from our tradition seem to have built their nests on your tongue.
Your own glorifications of the Lord, Srila Prabhupada, the acaryas, your
god-siblings and, indeed, even your disciples at times, are always poised
and eager to be spoken, and with the greatest of eloquence and sincerity.
Guru Maharaja, I am so fortunate to receive protection and guidance from
you. Your strength is a transcendental force; a redwood tree, reliably
standing tall and blocking out the scorching rays of materialism. I don’t
know your depth; I can’t fathom your grandeur; I can only watch and hear
from you, and witness your impact on thousands upon thousands of lives. I
can marvel as you take care of people’s bodies while simultaneously taking
care of their souls- a function of the eternal taking place in the now. I
can stand awestruck and amazed at the breadth of your wisdom and your
ability to inspire so many so effortlessly.
You are a true transparent ray of Light and I am honored at the privilege to
bask in your radiance. Too often though, I feel that I do not take advantage
of your generosity and mercy; that, although you are always there (in one
form or another) shining brilliantly over my head, I choose instead to run
inside and hide in some dark, dingy corner of myself. What I am holding onto
in those pathetic moments, I do not know. At least I can recognize that I am
immediately brought out into your Light once again upon contact with your
divine grace.
I pray that I can leave those dark corners behind and eternally take the
shelter that you selflessly offer me. Because when I am mature enough to
feel your presence at every moment, even in your absence, then I may truly
be able to please you by serving you in some significant way. Only then will
I understand and be able to access the power you have given me to execute
devotional service in the proper mood of humility and gratitude.
Thank you for being so unquestioningly strong and for leading by example.
Thank you for seeming to have faith in me no matter how weak or lacking I
feel. Thank you for continuing to give your life so that we may learn how to
live. I can so very easily imagine how happy you are making Srila Prabhupada
by your every word and action. All glories to you. All glories to your
auspicious and transcendental birthday.
Your aspiring servant,
Yadunath das

Dearly beloved spiritual master,
please accept my little heart at your most respectable, gentle feet.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
How can my mind ever be satisfied with my frail attempts to describe you for
b the glory of God truly shines in you....
Beholding you is my form of worship
Meditating on you is my path to salvation
Calling out to you is my prayer
Offering obeisances to you is my ritual
Talking of you is my kirtana
Writing to you is my poetry
Being chastised by you is my purification
To be bereft of your association is my penance
To be guided by you is my protective armour
Serving you is the perfection of my existence
Receiving instructions from you is my enlightenment for, yes, the splendor
of God shines in you...
Oh Master, as the representative of the Supreme Perfect Creator and thus an
expert artist yourself, please leave your imprint on the canvas of my mind
by applying the shades of ultimate surrender with the brush of your infinite
compassion. Please erase all the stains of material attachment from this
stubborn mind and colour this Ranga Radhika dasi in your own devotional
ecstacies.
Lost in your thoughts I cry out to be bathed in your brilliance, just like
the tiny flame always yearns to sparkle along and share in the effulgence of
the majestic fire.
On this auspicious day I raise my hands in prayers and look up to the Lord
with the earnest desire for everything that gives my spiritual master
intense happiness, for everything that makes the beautiful, delicate heart
of my master blossom with joy, for everything that puts a smile on my
master's face and for the fulfilment of all my master's dreams. Even if the
Lord refuses me everything else in life and grants me just this one
benediction, I will consider my life utmost succesful.
May the Lord grant me everything that I need to make my spiritual master
fully pleased with me and remove everything in me that causes even a slight
dissappointment to my master, for without you I have no meaning. You are the
light of my life.
I offer all the flowers of the whole world on your lotusfeet today.
Eagerly desiring to become your flawless creation,
Your indebted servant,
Ranga Radhika dasi (Holland)

Dearest gurumaharaj,
please accept my humble obeisances at the dust of your lotus feet. all
glories to your divine grace. all glories to your transcendental vyasa puja.
all glories to srila prabhupada.
Gurumaharaj, first of all let me wish you a warm and loving vyasa puja on
the occasion of your holy and transcendental appearance dayi
Gurumaharaj once again your divine vyasa puja affords me the opportunity to
glorify you very limitedly due to my impurities although your fame is
unlimited in the three worlds.
Gurumaharaj, a moment association with a pure devotee of the lord can be at
the utmost beneficial for a person.. infact, dear gurudev you made me more
convince about this fact. Fortunately, this year by gauaranga mahaprabhu
grace I was able to meet you personally in India at least on four occasions.
gurumaharaj I have no words to describe those meetings although it was very
short. i am really touched by your compassionate mood. so much pity , love
and attention is there just to encourage us spiritually.
Gurumaharaj ,although you were so busy for the Gbc meetings, mayapur project
meeting but still you were giving personal time to all the different
disciples and aspiring one. as in my case you were patiently listening to me
.it was a sudden relief just talking to you. the solution was found. in my
fourteen years I know your divine grace never had I seen you so dynamic with
all the preaching, parikrama and all the different projects. your only goal
was to inspire everyone in their Krishna consciousness. Your classes whether
in English or Bengali were just out of this world. it was just shattering
the ignorance of material life. the prabhupada katha you deliver in
vrindavan was indeed very touchy.
O swanlike personality, I therefore pray at your lotus feet to please
continue to inspire me and many others in the devotional line. please
empower me gurumaharaj so that I can give up the false hope of enjoying the
material world. srimati radharani and gauranga mahaprabhu will definitely
listnen to your prayers to save more fallen souls like me. you are an
empowered personality by krsna and prabhupadai.you are not an ordinary
mortal.. otherwise no mortal can open a temple in one year, perform
deity installations,
have such an expanding and broad vision for the ujjain projectsitraveling
simultaneously looking after many disciples and well wishers spiritual life.
Gurumaharaj I am full of those six impurities mentioned in the gita about
the jiva. Despite your instructions are so transcendental and have no
costing materially I am unable to take them seriously due to my
wretchedness. i am being kicked from body to another and I am rotting in
this material world. I have no hope to get out from this samsara davanala
except for your causeless mercy. gurumaharaj please reveal yourself more and
more in your instructions.. please also give me your personal association so
that I can become more strong.please give me the dust of your lotus feet so
that I can develop the taste for harinam and attentive chantingi.never
deviating from the four principlesithe onslaught of maya devi is very
difficult to overcome but I shelter me in your association, your
vani, your melodious and meditative kirtans and lectures I will be always
safe from its temptationi..
Gurumaharaj, thank you so much for everything you have done for me. i have
no words to describe the favors you have done upon me although I am a number
one rascal.. from your accepting me as your disciple, sending me to mayapur
for training, allowing me to serve you. I am really grateful to krsna and
prabhupada to send such a glorious master for me who is an expert captain to
sail me across the material world. i am proud of you.. my loving and
glorious master.
Gurumaharaj, indeed you are a world classic personality.. you have a
different style and approach of doing thingsiyou are someone to be
appreciated and to be meditated upon.. all glories to you gurudevi
On this day I sincerely pray to the lordship sri sri radhagolokananda,
nrsimhadev and pancatattva to please remove all the obstacle your service to
prabhupada and spreading the sankirtan mission. always keep you healthy.
Please forgive my unlimited offences at your lotus and never reject me from
your association gurumaharaji.continue to shower your mercy upon me so that
I can endeavor to follow in your footstepsi.
Vyasa puja mahamahotsav ki jay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HARE KRISHNA TO YOUUU HARE KRISHNA TO YOUUUUi.
HARE KRISHNA TO GURUDEV HARE KRISHNAAAA TO YOUUUUUUU
Haribol to you gurumaharaji..
Your fallen servant
Always aspiring for your service and to remain a dust particle at your lotus
feet,

From Minaketana-rama Dasa, England
Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my respectful obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.
As ISKCON approaches the 2nd decade of the 2nd millenium,it appears man
hasn't colonized the moon or made many technological advances seen in the
film " 2001 - A Space Odyssey". Technology certainly has advanced,but still
the answers to our purpose in life are not being solved by it.The only
solution is in the words of the guru within the parampara who speaks the
absolute truth as he has heard it from his guru.In the last decade we have
lost some great devotees - H.H.Bhakti Tirtha Swami,Tribuvanatha prabhu and
recently Aindra prabhu to name but a few ,who were pushing on the message of
Krishna Consiousness from different angles, but who have been called by Srila
Prabhupada to help somewhere else.As these great souls leave us,we look to
you,our guru maharaja to help us even more in our path towards Goloka
Vrindavana in the midst of the turmoil of kali yuga.By your mercy a devotee
such as I can preach to a few people and distribute prasadam in the hope
that they may also find or keep to the path.
Your example and vision of ISKCON assisting so many people ,like the police
in Ujjain,is a leading light for us all to look for ways to respiritualise
this world as Srila Prabhupada asked us to do.There are so many pseudo
religious and spiritual leaders taking people's money and freedom of
mind, but if people are truly seeking spiritual life with it's austerities
they will find the purity and dedication of leaders like you guru maharaja.
" But not everyone will come for diamonds"
Thankyou for inspiring me for another year to try to spread to spread the
Glories of the Holy Name.
Your servant,
Minaketanarama dasa

Dear Guru Maharaj,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet on this wonderful day
of your birthday. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all the Vaisnavas.
What can a spiritually bankrupt person like myself offer you?I,who have
nothing, except the debt I can never repay, either to you or to Srila
Prabhupada.
It's my own fault that I have distanced myself somewhat from your beloved
ISKCON because of things that in my immaturity,I can't understand-it's still
the best thing going.
There's a hackneyed old song from some rock opera that goes-
Day by day
Lord, I pray
To see you more clearly, follow you more nearly, love you more dearly
Day by day
And that's all I can say and sincerely hope that I can.
Please bless me that I can emerge from these doldrums with a strong wind of
enthusiasm to blow me to kingdom come,by your grace alone can I rise above
my material quagmire and re=emerge to sparkle as a spark of His splendour.
Your most unqualified servant,
Gandharvika d.d.

From Anandini Radhika Devi Dasi, Holland
Dear Guru-Maharaja,
Please accept my most humble obeisances again and again at your lotusfeet .
All glories to
you. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Iskcon.
Dear Guru-Maharaja sometimes I find it difficult to find words to say what I
feel, I think some things cannot said by words but I’m going to try.
Many times in the past I feel that I was not good enough to be a devotie in
Iskcon, my choises were difficult and my life turned upside down. And I
punished myself with the words I deserve to suffer and that I’m not good
enough to be a devotie or something like that. But when I was thinking
that there always was a sign that I saw a devotie somewhere when I was not
expecting it. Or a dream that You or Srila Prabhupada were helping me. This
really happens and not ones. So my thought was Krishna and my spiritual
master and Prabhupada still loves me no matter what and that gives me so
much strength and also self-confidence and that I needed so badly.
Now years later I can see more in perspective, wisdom comes (sometimes)with
years people say, I can overview my life and see the red thread leading
through it, I see that I always can depend on Krishna and you when something
difficult happens, but not only then also in happy moments and they come
more and more so maybe Guru- Maharaja I have learn’t something in the years.
So I can only try finding the good words to say what is in my heart that is
gratefulness, happiness and more and much more towards you Gurudeva.
I see you serve Srila Prabhupada no matter what, your presentation of Krsna
consciousness is so beautiful and attractive and to see that inspires me
in so many ways.
Thank you Guru-Maharaja for giving me your mercy and accepting me as your
disciple, I pray every day that I not waste this opportunity and keep
chanting for hole my life and further, and learn to serve you and the
devotie’s , your teachings are always in my heart.
Happy Vyasa Puja day Gurudeva.
from your unkwalified disciple,
Anandini Radhika dasi
