Yes Mahaprabhu never liked to declare himself as Krishna.
He always said he was a devotee of Lord.
So he covered his ears and said Hey..Vishnu save me.

Mahaprabhu never liked to declare Himself as Krishna but He needed to act sometimes from the position of Krsna. Only His confidential devotees could understand this.
How else could He correct Brahmananda Bharti who was in the position of His spiritual master from wearing a deerskin which He did not like ?
that is why he chose not to interact at first with Brahmananda Bharati.

when he became silence... Brahmananda Bharati understand that his deer skin was not liked... so he himself took it off.

Mahaprabhu got up to greet Brahmananda Bharati after hearing he had arrived.
But upon seeing Brahmananda Bharati wearing a deerskin He refused to recognize him at all, not just remain silent.
He told Mukunda Datta where is Brahmananda Bharati. I cannot see him. All this while Brahmananda Bharati was standing in front of Him wearing a deerskin.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said I will accept these statements of Brahmananda Bharati as they are alright with Me but when Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya went overboard in the glorification of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu He did not like it.
