    • Hare Krishna Vinay Prabhu,

I am please to see such great question and also glad to participate in such beautiful discussion.

You already said the meaning of kali Kamli - Black blanket & shawl, as Sri krishna has dark complexion, his skin is compared with the same, hence called kali Kamli wala.

Please let me know if i am wrong.

as per what I remember when asked from parents in childhood they explained that kamli here comes from "kambal" or a shawl kind of thing. Lord use to carry a black colored kamali as cowherd boy when he used to take the cows for grazing.

Hence the name kaali kamli wale.

My foggy memory tells me that here Krishna's eyes is being compared to lotus.

His eyes are called lotus eyes, similar to the way we call lotus feet.

so Krishna is called "having black lotus eyes" ( kali kamali wale)

in hindi we also say "kamal nayan" meaning (lotus eyes)

jai ho Krishna , who has infinite names and meaning.

How can you have not heard this song prabhuji :)

This line belongs to that famous and beautiful  song "yasomati maiya se bolo nandala: Radha kyun gori main kuin kala"

kamali means collection of lotuses . came from the word kamal (lotus flower).

Haven't heard this ever in Srila Prabhupada's teachings. The sentence seems to be not from any Authenticate shastras. Kowledgeable devotees can help out.
