Who is Sri Isopanisad?

Hare Krsna dear great devotees My dandvat pranam to you. When i began reading Sri Isopanisad I thought that it was a scripture but when i began reading from mantras 15-18 i became confused? It is as if some one is praying to the Lord. Hence my question that who is Sri Isopanisad?

Here are the mantras

Iso 15: O my Lord, sustainer of all that lives, Your real face is covered by Your dazzling effulgence. Kindly remove that covering and exhibit Yourself to Your pure devotee.

Iso 16: O my Lord, O primeval philosopher, maintainer of the universe, O regulating principle, destination of the pure devotees, well-wisher of the progenitors of mankind, please remove the effulgence of Your transcendental rays so that I can see Your form of bliss. You are the eternal Supreme Personality of Godhead, like unto the sun, as am I.

Iso 17: Let this temporary body be burnt to ashes, and let the air of life be merged with the totality of air. Now, O my Lord, please remember all my sacrifices, and because You are the ultimate beneficiary, please remember all that I have done for You.

Iso 18: O my Lord, as powerful as fire, O omnipotent one, now I offer You all obeisances, falling on the ground at Your feet. O my Lord, please lead me on the right path to reach You, and since You know all that I have done in the past, please free me from the reactions to my past sins so that there will be no hindrance to my progress.

  • I agree with question. However I think answers/replies do not completely answer the question.

Just like time is a person, are we to understand that Sri Isopnishad is a person?

Hare Krsna Romitji.  I hope all is well for you,     So Srila Prabhupada in the purport explains how this human form of life is meant for crossing the ocean of material existence.    And if we missuse this rare opportunity we are killing our self.  We are killing our spiritual life.      Its not intended to be taken literally that the soul is  'killed'.       You know the soul can never be killed so this is to be understood that not using this valuable and rare human form for self ralisation is  'like'   killing your soul.    The use of the word killer is figurative here in mantra 3.

The person who Isopanishad is about is on the front cover.   The Parameswara.

  • Jai Shri Krishna..

It is a guidance to us, also how to worship the Lord.

    "Sri Isopanisad

Studying the Vedas, books of knowedge from India, begins with the Upanishads. The first Upanishad is Sri Isopanisad,  meaning "information which brings one closer to the Supreme." Sri Isopanisad describes the Complete Whole, the position of the living entities as parts and parcels of that Complete Whole, and their relationship with the Supreme."
