I also don't know sanskrit.
But I learn these ashtakas by simply pickng up some nice vocalist devotee who sings clearly and sing along watching the lyrics and learn in song flow format.
rather than learn like word to word byheart
above all I try to learn the meaning conveyed in the stanzas by going thru the english translation of the song before I learn so that I can have the emotion that is actually conveyed in the song.

-> I first heard and read bhaj Govindam in Yt videos , and they must have reduced the number of verses for song purpose, but when I saw the ACTUAL number of verses it is 34 😱
Do you think I should skip bhaj govindam? At least for now?

But it is not must to learn any.
Just do chanting 16 rounds more than enough for now. :-)
but if you want to impress Lord with vocal skills you must sing sweet melodies like damodar ashtakam and Chaurashtakam gopi geet , venu geet
Take one and sing nicely with love for Krishna and see how Krishna will respond to you.

I have got a bit of (I think they call it heavy) /bhari voice.
I have got a LOT of compliments in my life on my sweet voice, so much that I don't even sing ever in fron tof my family, so I think that... It would be a bit embarassing for me and not at all god for your ears...
thats okay. No one is Arijit singh and shreya ghoshal here. We all have no talents. But Krishna can bear with our bhaari voices also.
Now that I realise maybe I should only listen and skip learning...
