I have 2 cats who I love dearly. However, I sometimes wonder if they were human in their past lives and then due to sinful activities they took a cat birth. They are probably just working their way up thru the species. However, what kind of sinful activities did they do if they had previously been a human being?

Dear Romit Prabhuji, The various names of Vishnu/Krishna is none different from Krishna or Vishnu himself. Our names such as Manoj or Romit is not us but just a name. So when you call out the names of Krishna or Vishnu at the moment of death, the possibility for liberation is great. But if you think of anything else, such as an animal, plant or human being.. then there is a great chance that one can be born to that end. Since Pandora is attached to her cats, and the chances are great that the cats might be on the thoughts and hopefully the names of the cats will be in Pandora's mind.
Sadly for Bharat Mahraja, he only thought of the Deer and in the case of Ajmila although he was thinking of his son, he called out his name which was Narayan which is Krishna or Vishnu's name and because the name of Krishna or Vishnu is none different from Him, Ajmila got another chance for liberation.

Hare Krishna dear Pandora Hisnon Matajai,
just make sure that they do not look to the food which You are going to offer to Krishna and do not let Them enter to Your kitchen if possible. Because among domestic animals only mongoose are considered clean, all others not clean because they touch their body with their tongue.
and cleanliness gives strength. if we are not strong enough some other living beings may attack our body and mind. and we may become sick or mentally weak.

It's very dangerous to ones spiritual life to be so attached to any living entities.. especially animals. At time of death it's said that the body becomes very fearful and calls out to the ones it is attached to. We also know that we achieve what we think of at the time of death. Here at least there might be a solution to such a dilemma. Like Ajmila who was a very learned Brahman fell down spiritually when he contemplated on the activites of the Sudra having illicit relation with the prostitute, that he offered her a job as a servant at his house. Sine one becomes attached to material activities when just contemplating, he started desiring her and finally had children from her till he was 80 years old. One day at the time of death, he called out to his favorite son because he was fearful of his situation. Lucky for him that Krishna is so generous that he gave Ajmila another chance for liberation when Ajmila called out to his son who was incidentally called Narayan.
So perhaps in your case it would be a good idea to give your cats some spiritual names, who knows how liberation comes and in which form? We have to be ready to pass the final test.

Can Prabhuji please tell me the name of the deer that Maharaj Bharat constantly thought of and if he called out it's name? It's the name of Krishna which is the Saving Glory.. hence it was suggested that the cats be named appropriately. This is the grace of Krishna.. All chant.. Yes. I am too attached to my cats. That's true. I have 2 cats. Ages-15 and 16. After they leave their bodies

yes, Manojkumar Bhika Prabhu gives nice advice to give to them Spiritual Names. for example, to out Temple used to come one dog to take maha-maha Prasadam. we started to call him "Haribol" then by the time he started to sleep in front of the Temple and guard it...he-he :-) he started to offer his service.
