What to eat in a marriage

I am a 16 rounds chanter, and have left tea, coffee, onion and garlic.

Now last time, I went to a marriage, it was a non Vaishnava but a Hindu marriage. Food was all vegetarian.

Now I eventually ate everything, like shahi paneer, dal etc, and I asked the chef, he told everything has onion garlic in it.

I asked a senior devotee, he told me to stick to curd rice and sweet dishes in a marriage.

For me, its hard to resist the starters and shahi paneer.

What will be your suggestion in such testing situation? Is carry your own shahi paneer is the solution :)

    Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

I completely understand your situation. Normally if it is North Indian marraige, you will still find lots of things that we can eat. South Indian marraige means even raita they will put onion.

We resist/ carry our own tiffins when we attend South Indian marraiges or simply take only the sweet. If it is a brahmin marraige, then there are more chances of getting our vaishnav food.

North Indian marraige means, all fruits, some chaats, some starters they will always keep for people who dont eat onion garlic. Even main course, some thing will be there. If you have little knowledge of cooking, or you are in a position to ask the chef/ host, then find out and eat. Check out the live counters, if its possible to have our kind of food. It has happened in outstation weddings also - we haev gone practically hungry and had the khichri in ISKCON temple the next morning. Else, enjoy the sweets.

Tell yourself mentally this austerity is pleasing to Krsna. Go to nearest Govinda's afterwards and have whatever you want.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
