    • Jai Shri Krishna..

I asked that same question to my Mom when I was about 4/5 years old. My Mom told me that Krishna only reveals himself to those that loves him with a pure devotional heart. My Dadi used to tell us such lovely stories about Krishna.. sigh. We used to be lost in day dreaming about him. As time went by, we lost our Dadi and her beautiful stories and we grew up in the "real" world.  Forgetting how we used to day dream about Krishna..  My love for Krishna was dormant,  one day I got hold of one of ISKCON books.  It was a brown one with a golden outline of a spoon, I thinkit was called A HIGHER TASTE.  OnceI read that the old me I had forgotten awoken.  I had many question that ISKCON answered.

I also came to realise that to see Krishna, one has to be a very devoted devotee.  One has to be a pure devotee.  I knew that with the help of Srila Prabhupad it will be possible.

  • Srila Prabhupada says-

"This is not a very difficult process. However, one must learn it from an experienced person. Tad vidyanartham sa gurum evä abhigacchet: [MU 1.2.12] one must approach a person who is already in the practice. The mind is always flying to this and that, but one must practice concentrating the mind always on the form of the Supreme Lord, Sri Krishna, or on the sound of His name. The mind is naturally restless, going hither and thither, but it can rest in the sound vibration of Krishna. One must thus meditate on paramam purusam, the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the spiritual kingdom, the spiritual sky, and thus attain Him. The ways and the means for ultimate realization, ultimate attainment, are stated in the Bhagavad-gita, and the doors of this knowledge are open for everyone. No one is barred out. All classes of men can approach Lord Krishna by thinking of Him, for hearing and thinking of Him is possible for everyone."

Technically one must obey one's guru, assuming he is a real guru in one of the 4 Vaishnava Sampradaya and is self effulgent.

Caitanya Mahaprabhu who is Krishna Himself Said,

Harer Nama Harer Nama Harer Nama eva kevalm

Kalau Nasteva Nasteva Nasteva gatir anyatha.

In the age of Kaliyuga, their is ONLY one path and that is taking the Names of Hari. There is no other path.

Please accept Srila Prabhupada as you Shiksha guru and start listening to his audio on Bhagavadgita or Bhagavatam.

    Hare Krishna

  • Jai Shri Krishna..

One should be very careful when selecting a Guru,  I say this because when a Guru tell you to do something then you should have no doubt in your mind.

What is a real guru? A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada gives the
    following explaination:

“Even though we may not have the fortune to contact the Supreme Lord personally, the Lord’s representative is as good as the Lord Himself because such a representative does not say anything unless it is spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu therefore gives a definition of guru. Yare dekha, tare kaha ‘krsna’-upadesa: [Cc. Madhya 7.128] the bona fide guru is he who advises his disciples exactly in accordance with the principles spoken by Krsna. The bona fide guru is he who has accepted Krsna as guru.

This is the guru-parampara system. The original guru is Vyasadeva because he is the speaker of Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, wherein everything spoken relates to Krsna. Therefore guru-puja is known as Vyasa-puja. In the final analysis, the original guru is Krsna, His disciple is Narada, whose disciple is Vyasa, and in this way we gradually come in touch with the guru-parampara. One cannot become a guru if he does not know what the Personality of Godhead Krsna or His incarnation wants. The mission of the guru is the mission of the Supreme Personality of Godhead: to spread Krsna consciousness all over the world.”
    [Srimad Bhagavatam 8.24.48, purport]

My point of view:  Krishna wants us to learn about Him, so concentrate on Him/Krishna.. learn everything about him..  All this is possible from the books of Srila Prabhupad and a Guru from ISKCON.
