Dipin Preet has addressed what is role/purpose of ISKCON. Below is Purport in which Srila Prabhuapda says what is Hare Krsna movement
Saṅkīrtana means chanting of the holy name of the Lord. The Hare Kṛṣṇa movement is not a new movement as people sometimes mistakenly think. The Hare Kṛṣṇa movement is present in every millennium of Lord Brahmā’s life, and the holy name is chanted in all the higher planetary systems, including Brahmaloka and Candraloka, not to speak of Gandharvaloka and Apsaroloka. The saṅkīrtana movement that was started in this world five hundred years ago by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is therefore not a new movement. Sometimes, because of our bad luck, this movement is stopped, but Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and His servants again start the movement for the benefit of the entire world or, indeed, the entire universe. (Purport SB 7.15.71)
So as Srila Prabhuapda states, the Hare Krsna movement is the Sankirtan Movement of chanting the holy name of Sri Krsna. This is much older that Iskcon. Iskcon is one (of the many) establishment to spread the Hare Krsna movement. But undoubtedly because of it's massive outreach in the west it is almost snonymous with The Hare Krsna movement.

There are some splinter groups that left ISKCON, but I would not bother with them. The Hare Krishna movement is ISKCON.

I have heard that the process of initiation is different in both. Google also has a lot of articles on this topic.
google has many things but Hare Krishna movement is only ISKCON what else.
So it means that I can take initiation in Hare Krishna movement.

In general anyone who takes directions on initiation based on google searches and forum replies is likely not ready for it. I do not mean to discourage anyone, but initiation is the most serious thing for a human being. Please understand the seriousness. Please take guidance from your superiors whomever you are contact with.
