In some purport of Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Srila Prabhupada mentions that one has to be as strict as if in military discipline to follow Krishna Consciousness.  What is being conveyed here ?  How can one control/utilize one's anger and engage the mind in Krishna's service in this way/manner ?

  • Thinking like a sahdu, achareas, which is' also the path of the student of Bhakte/Bromachare. But as for those who are house -holders, or simply spiritual or/the metaphysical science's. I.e. "frendgees" or the un-initshated. Then I geel we should consider what Krishna said "To follow to closely the path & works of another is a path rought with dangers" it is better to work at one's own pace performing your works imperfectly than to follow the was of another even if you can perform them perfectly"
Everyone does not excell in such a dramatically exclusive way as the Bhakti path provides in-(potential).
So as (HH)(SP) was once said to say, "Hi's movement (in Hi's opinion) had created enough sent per cent dedicated breasts." So as with all wisdom transitions. Fanattasysisum/infatuation is a pitfall of enthusiasm. And a poor fund of understanding!
An understanding which evolves from purly associating with the Holy names of Hare. Hare is at the begining and the end of the (MM) for a reasion & a purpus, as it is the name of ear-resistable Love* -personnafide. Pronounce it properly & you will concur-all *as Love does'conquer all? Chant properly and you/we will tast enjoy & share pure love of the GodHead, yet if you /we chant it inattentively or improperly we will not taste/thus not know or have the experience of pure Love of the GodHead to offer! ? One can't offer what one does not poses. So the most simple influential and rewording task of all tasks is all that really required in order to be a bonnafide ambassador of Haray Krishna Prama is simply to chant properly & avoid offinces aganst the pure devotees of Krishna. Chanting purly makes one's experience of God's Love pure and performing rites religiously, like inatentive chanting may demonstrate the phenomenon of transindental existence, but chanting properly educates the conditioned mind & intelligence directly through direct experience & this exp.is self & God realuzation & a fath that is never lost. Chanting alone provides a perfect realuzation/ understanding & further is never lost. What can sentimentality or infatuation accomplish of any value. As the truth is the humen form by it's (status accuallis exempt from karma & all attractive when liberation is awarded through the peacefull pallitable moddest. I.e. (innocuous) performence of chanting this is' a service to the world at larg and a service for the GodHead(s). Inattentive chanting is for one offensive & two educates no one! Good luck everyone!

    Hare Krsna

In some purport of Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Srila Prabhupada mentions that one has to be as strict as if in military discipline to follow Krishna Consciousness.

    This is from BG 3.30

    mayi sarvāṇi karmāṇi
    sannyasyādhyātma-cetasā
    nirāśīr nirmamo bhūtvā
    yudhyasva vigata-jvaraḥ

Translation:  Therefore, O Arjuna, surrendering all your works unto Me, with full knowledge of Me, without desires for profit, with no claims to proprietorship, and free from lethargy, fight.
    Purport:

This verse clearly indicates the purpose of the Bhagavad-gītā. The Lord instructs that one has to become fully Kṛṣṇa conscious to discharge duties, as if in military discipline. Such an injunction may make things a little difficult; nevertheless duties must be carried out, with dependence on Kṛṣṇa, because that is the constitutional position of the living entity.

What is being conveyed here ?

The porport by SP answers it. Excerpts from purport r below in italics

duties must be carried out, with dependence on Kṛṣṇa

Why should duties be carried out with dependence on Krsna ?

because that is the constitutional position of the living entity.

What are the duties that are to be carried out ?

    Two things

    1. One has to sacrifice everything for the good will of the Supreme Lord, and

    2. at the same time discharge prescribed duties without claiming proprietorship.

The first refers to our constitutional duty as living entity - performing devotional service to Krsna - Hearing, chanting & remembering Krsna

The second refers to our conditional duty as a human being with designations like son, student, citizen employee etc.

How should these duties be performed ?

one has to act on the order of the master but should not expect fruitive results. The cashier may count millions of dollars for his employer, but he does not claim a cent for himself. Similarly, one has to realize that nothing in the world belongs to any individual person, but that everything belongs to the Supreme Lord. That is the real purport of mayi, or "unto Me."

What happens when one carries out his duties like this ?

Those persons who execute their duties according to My injunctions and who follow this teaching faithfully, without envy, become free from the bondage of fruitive actions.(Translation BG 3.31)

What happens when one does not carry out his duties like this ?

But those who, out of envy, disregard these teachings and do not follow them regularly are to be considered bereft of all knowledge, befooled, and ruined in their endeavors for perfection.(Translation BG 3.32)

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Be as strict as military discipline means - typically we are very lenient with ourselves and strict with others. Example - when someone else makes a mistake, we criticise, scold, show anger..... but when we ourselves make mistake, we justify to the extent possible, if not possible, we say - after all I am human..... isnt it?

In spirituality, it is opposite - we have to be strict with our own sadhana, and lenient with other's sadhana. This is because we should not get angry with others for not doing their sadhana properly, we should try to tell them to do their sadhana properly. THis will enable us to overcome our age old habit of fault finding.

We should find fault with ourselves before we find fault in others.

The root of anger is kama - lust. If we control our lust, krodha/ anger automatically gets mitigated.

COntrollign the mind - the best way is to engage the mind in the service of the lord, in whatever capacity we can.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
