Dharma of salt is salty taste. Can the sea make sweet taste for salt? no similarly dharma of sugarcane is sweet. I cannot become salty. Because, it's by nature sweet.
What is the dharma of brahmina? to learn gain knowledge and to preach and teach. Dharma of a Kshetriya is to fight for injustice. Dharma of a vaishya is to do trade, business and dharma of a shudra is to work for all the above classes.
Most of us these days are working for someone else...Brahminas are no longer teachers. Kshetriyas are working under someone and don't care for justice.. all they are interested in bhoga vilasa and selfish interest of buying houses... buying jewellery making plans for vacations. Traders are ofcoursing doing business but even Kshetriyas taken up business and some cases we find Brahmins are taking up business... most of us as we are all working for someone else these days... all are Shudras in someway or the other.
Many shudras are studying well and becoming professors and teachers. So these days.. no one is following their own SWADHARMA
How can a salt become a sweet? or Sweet become salty?
If a fish in the pond is removed and made to walk on the land... can it do? can it be happy on land? it will die the very momment it is brought out of water.
What is the dharma of the fish .. by nature it can be alive only in water.
What is the nature of bird? to fly. can you tie the birds wings or glue them make it a land creature?? will that bird be happy like this?
The nature of the tiger is to hunt down animals. Can you remove its claws and teeth and make it eat only grass?
this is how the nature is.
When one follows ones' own dharma ( swadharma) perfectly then only he or she can live happily.
What is the nature of SOUL?
Soul is a PART and PARCEL of SUPERSOUL that is the dharma of the soul.
How can the soul find peace and bliss in something else other than supersoul?
Soul can temporarily feel happiness when the body is chosing for comforts like tasty food, nice jwellery, or movies or some entertainment. It is just temporary happiness.. but the soul finds eternal bliss ( ananda) only when it is engaging in Krishna consciousness. Because by nature the soul is qualitatively same as Supersoul though not quantitatively.
So Dharma of Jivas is to become cognizant of its relationship with Parmatma and thereby serving Bhagwan becomes blissful ( Aananda).
Jivera swaroopa hoye Krishnera Nitya dasa.
Just as finger cannot work on its own. finger needs to be in connection to the brain to be able to move. Similarly Jiva needs to follow the orders of Krishna the Supersoul /Parmatma then only it is said to be in order.
Jiva's dharma is to follow the orders of Supreme Personality of Godhead and to serve HIM that is the dharma of every invidual soul
It means that dharma is directly ordained by the Lord. It is also mentioned that only the Mahajanas can perceive the confidential meaning of this dharma. Lord Krsna asks everyone in Bhagavad-gita 18.66 to abandon all kinds of dharma and surrender to Him alone. Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu actually walked on this path and showed us by His practical example. When some of the Muslims and mayavadis in Navadvipa complained to Chand Kazi about the so called disturbance created by the sanskirtana movement and the Kazi tried to instill fear in the minds of the sanskirtana party by breaking a mrdanga. Lord Caitanya organized a disobedience movement and went to the extent of making the Kazi admit that cow killing as supported by Koranic statements was not proper. In the present day's context we can well imagine that slaughter house killings go largely unopposed, so ask yourself where dharma lies?

I understand it much more clearly now. Thank you for the beautiful and insightful explanation. Hari Hari.
Hare Krsna Prabhu
It is stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.3.19
" dharmam tu saakshaad bhagavata pranitam "
It means that dharma is directly ordained by the Lord. It is also mentioned that only the Mahajanas can perceive the confidential meaning of this dharma.
