I was many times confused and got into the trap of websites defaming ISKCON.
But by the mercy of Krishna and devotees came out of it, but still they are very dangerous.
we need to counter act them by posting the facts, otherwise they simply misguide the aspiring
devotees.

In Kaliyuga this things are bound to happen as in the begining all people were under Vedic culture but as time goes by gradually few section of people become rebellion and started attacking the followers of Vedas and Vedas itself.In this way there are lot of anti vedic religion came out that we see today. Similarly who lacks surrender to Vaishnavas, Guru, Krishna lacking in austerity,abstinence eventually they fall down and started defaming Iskcon vy creating various sites. Because they have nothing to do in life , they are biggest blasphemers spoling themsleves and innocents. Arguing with them on net is a waste . It is far more better to preach people face to face and connect them with temple programs then they will automatically come to know what is truth and what is not. And also making fruitful websites are very helpful like IDT and also devotees can use social networking site as a tool to spread the truth.

One thing is we can counter attack them by being critical and by fighting with them.
Another way is just to increase and improve the quality of web sites with true knowledge so that those web sites automatically will go down.
So His Holiness Radhanath Swami Maharaja recommended the second method.
It is true so many web sites are creating so many false things but Maharaja told if we create many web sites, with real truth then no need to loose time for fighting.
By doing so we will loose time, energy, our intelligence ...
So IDT is one of those web sites which is trying its best in this matter.

Yes it's unfortunate that there are websites defaming ISKCON. I think the worst one is IRM-ISKCON revival movement. My Guru left ISKCON in 2002. IRM called him on the phone and told him that he had to "do the right thing and commit suicide." Isn't that horrible!!! Telling someone to commit suicide!!!!! I agree with his Holiness Radhanath Swami Maharaja. There is no time for fighting.
While I do agree with Radhanath Maharaja, but to play devil's advocate - what is true knowledge?
Our government as it is plays tricks on us, keeps us unaware of things, and just envelopes us in a series of lies. Just now, in the USA, it has emerged that the NSA has been spying on us! So how can we learn to trust the GBC after what they are supporting.
Case in point: The revisions and publications of Srila's Prabhupada's books. Why would the GBC approve and allow such things?
In my opinion, the only defamation of ISKCON I see are from those who are from a different religious background. It's a sad truth, but Christians are usually the ones who create such havoc. I go to two main Ratha Yatras in the USA, and at both there are a bunch of Christians gathered to just blaspheme Krsna Consciousness, which allows us to follow Radhanath Maharaja's advice and ignore and preach the true knowledge. But often times, when I'm researching some Sannyasi Prabhu that is visiting the local temple, I come across a bunch of horrible sites that blaspheme the Sannyasis, the GBC, etc. There is a site in particular (that I do not wish to mention because it's utterly disgusting), but they have nicknames for Sannyasis according to their "crimes" ... and I feel that's what websites target more so than ISKCON in general. They target the future of ISKCON that lies in the hands of what they call to be these power-hungry leaders. And the sad thing behind it all is that they claim to be supporters of ONLY Srila Prabhupada.
And this is expected nonetheless, because it's something we see in all religions - a split in the religious organization because of differences in opinion (Islam has the Sunni and Shittes) .. I recently came across a site that even targeted Srila Prabhupada (and the sad thing was the author was a devotee, a member of ISKCON, and IIRC a disciple of Srila Prabhupada(?) --key word: WAS-- they are obviously no longer a follower of SP)...
Which leads me to think that the future of ISKCON is slowly shifting away from the temple to just the homes. When I was a kid, tons of devotees both Indian and American would come to the temple...but slowly what I've noticed is that the number of "old timer" devotees are slowly decreasing, and hopefully it's just at my temple - but it really gives a glimpse of what might be in store for ISKCON - people staying at home trying to learn spiritual knowledge, at the risk of not understanding the truth.
To end it all, it's Kali Yuga. We can expect nothing less really, so the best thing to do in my opinion, is chant chant chant the names of the Lord, there's nothing else, nothing else, nothing else to save us from the evil clutches of Kali.
