Transfer of sadhna

Hare Krishna to all the devotees

All glories to srila Prabhupada

Boons / curses have been given since long ago. Today too, people do give them, but my question is does everyone's boons/curse  work ?

I read once somewhere in this forum, and I also have my personal hypothesis that to give boon of curse one should have some potency (that of naam jap / any other yoga sadhna) so that his potency (of maybe some powers)'s fraction is transferred for the boon/curse to work, or  else anyone will be giving curses to people for no reason and they would be suffering.

my conjunction is that how bhismdeva was given a boon by his father that he may die only when he desires, and that was possible only because previously all the kings were rajarishi (i.e they were Saintly kings) so his boon worked.

Similarly, mother kunti was given a mantra to receive child from demigods, but that possible or that mantra worked only because it was given by a Brahman , so it held his sandhna potency.

also that giving curse would require more sandhna than boon, since curses are giving in anger, and I have heard that as soon as a sadhu is in anger his whole sadhna is burned by that anger. That is why there are less instances of curses in history (although many kings, and saints have been in past)

Say for a hypothetical example with Imaginary situation and numbers-

Someone (say , X has changed 100 name of God,

Now for some reason he gives a boon to someone, so for that boon to work he has to give up potency of 5i names (imagenary number)

And then , for some reason X gives a curse to someone SO he has to give up potency of say 20i names (again imaginary number).

Is the CONCEPT , (not the numbers) correct?

Is this hypothesis correct?

  • Hare Krishna,

Durvasa Muni was a great yogi endowed with enormous tapas-shakti due to severe austerities. His anger was legendary, and when he cursed someone, it immediately manifested because of his accumulated spiritual potency.

But one day he recklacely cursed a great vaishnava Ambarish Maharaj who was a pure devotee of Vishnu ( I don't want to explain the whole story now) in short the curse became the cause for his downfall or I can say Lord sent Sudarshan Chakra behind Duravasa muni. Even demigod's couldn't save him.

Sudarshana Chakra burnt away all his accumulated piety for doing vaishnava aparadh.

So, the conclusion is ... A person who has spiritual strength from sadhana may be able to curse someone, but misusing that power can destroy all the results of their sadhana.

Even giving boons can consume spiritual credit:-

When we do many good deeds in life we accumulate punya karma ( not only sadhana earned punya) even by doing ekadashi or doing go daan or doing Srimad bhagwatam reading or any punya karma which is accumulated gets depleted when we curse someone who is a devotee.

Same thing happens when we give boons to undeserving people.

Shukracharya repeatedly revived and blessed undeserving Asuras, and in doing so, gradually lost the spiritual power he had gained through austerities.

See, sadhana is a form of energy.

When we do sadhana we accumulate the energy and when we give some strength in the form of boons or curses we will expend that energy. We have to recharge our system again as we get decharged.

For recharging we need to go to some higher source.. like some guru maharaj and get some blessings .. that we why hum bade logon ke pair chute hai aur blessing lete hai taaki hum recharge ho jaaye thora aur dubara sadhana karein

Sometimes visiting a piligrimage also we get recharged because of positive vibrations there.

    • So giving boons to deserving people will spend the potency or not?

Like if I am an old man , and I was going somewhere in foot, but a man/boy comes to me with his ride and tell me that he will drop there. So in doing so he served me/helped me, if I were to give him a boon on the basis of his service, like what people say- have a long life/be always happy- like that, then would it consume my punya?

Also I the above case, if I have not chanted the name of God, or did no sadhna then would the boon still work?

      • If you have no sadhana done then previously then your blessings are just good wishes.

But if have sadhana done and someone is helping and you just say to them long life and bless them to live a happy long life that mere words will actually start working simultanously. It is no longer your wish.. it will fructify and the person will see benefits immediately and ofcourse when you bless anyone dil se.. such blessings surely will deplete a little bit of your spiritual merits.
