YES he does remember after death realizes that he actually had no relations with his so called family members and regrets wasting his life after them. The yamdootas punish him for his sins but after he accepts another material body he forgets everything of his past
Like I explained before, the body consists of 2 parts - gross body and subtle body. Gross body changes, subtle body doesnt. That is why people's nature is different, even animals have different nature in same species.
Memory of past activities is the conditioning of the soul, which is stored in the subtle body.
Krishna indacats NO'
Even as Je speaks in the Gita that one does retain so prefrence towards one direction of study & interests., even for those who have turned twords-& been someWhat successful the the quest for Spiritual life & Understatings in this lifetime. RAHSA (Tastes) we do develup direction of preferences and interests. But Not even Arjuna) retained any recall. Krishna' alone retains total recall.
Good question thank you for pointong-out with it the feutality of excessive academic endeavor. Chanting alone' is the Recamended process for us! It Opens & Softens the Heart making it's energies more attractive & more accessible to Krishna
Sitting properly is as important as "chanting Properly. Good Luck
The soul is covered by the gross body as well as subtle body. Gross body is made of earth, water, fire, air & ether. Subtle body is made of mind, intelligence and false ego. When the soul leaves one body and goes to another body, the gross body changes, the subtle body remains the same. As you know, memory of an event is stored in mind. Still it is very rare for people to have memory of past birth.

No, remembrances of past lives are extremely rare. In SB Canto 5, Jada Bharat had remembered his past lives.
But for all practical purposes nobody remember's past lives.
