Is the Lord inactive as being impersonal

Cruelty knows no limit which is an intense phenomenon appealing  general attention. I have been hearing about this cruelty but never realized it from so deep down my heart until got some breaking news from all around the world starting from peshawar school attack by terrorists at Islamabaad, then Kokrajhar massacre in Assam, and now quite breaking i.e the barbarous murder of a so called suspected rapist by public at Dimapur in Nagaland. What could be more anarchy in a state than bringing out a convict by force in presence of police and administration and killing him by dragging in a naked condition through the streets and at last burning him after hanging him at a city tower just on the basis of a suspect of rape. Why does the Lord not stop these evil intentions if the man made administration fails to check them? Is this world so horrible?

    Hare Krsna
Very appropriately titled thread - Stringent laws of material nature

Karmic Law is is equal to all. I do good - I reap good. I do bad - I reap bad. There is time between sowing, nourishing and reaping. Everything done will comeback. The choice of what to do rests with me, once done choice of reaction isn't up to me. Reaction will come. That is the law. But reaction is created solely due to action done by individuals, either now or earlier. After I have done action, I can't chose reaction, but I can chose the response to reaction.

Example : In olden days powerful people could inflict curses on others. Those who suffered also could curse back. In Srimad Bhagavatam there is an episode Devayani desired to marry Kaca, but Kaca did not accept the offer. So Devayani cursed Kaca. In turn Kaca cursed her back.

There are many positive examples also.

Sage Durvasa with his yogic powers, created demon to destroy King Ambarish. King ambarish did not retaliate or defend, Vishnu Cakra came and destroyed the demon and chased Sage Durvasa all over.
King Daksha cursed Lord Siva. Lord Siva did not even acknowledge it, he was in meditating in trance.

King Daksa cursed Narada Muni, Narada Muni smiled and accepted. Sringi cursed King Parikshit, he simply accepted it and took shelter of Vaishnava and Srimad Bhagavatam. This is the way great devotees welcome reactions.

The reactions we get or anyone gets is due to past karma. It is futile to avoid/challenge/fight it.
If it comes upon himself, a devotee tolerates and continues to render devotional service or
a devotee accepts graciously as Krsna's mercy considers that he deserves worse or
a devotee welcomes it and takes deeper shelter of Krsna

When a devotee sees someone else reaping their own reactions, He becomes compassionate upon them and becomes Krsna's instrument in helping them receive Krsna's shelter. But he understands it is futile to fight the agents who deliver the karmic reaction. Accidents, floods, rogues, administration, bureaucrats, banks, boss, hackers, inflation, wars, friends, parents, spouse, children, media, society, animals, terrorists, co-passengers anyone, anything that can be interacted or associated with can deliver one's karmic reaction. As an individual whom all can I fight and how long. Even as group of individuals it is not possible to fight these things.

So when reactions come upon us we can take shelter of Krsna, When we see others experiencing pain we can become instruments of Krsna's compassion to the extent possible. Most importantly we have to responsibly avoid accumulating karmic reactions - This is in our own hands. This is done by taking to process of Bhakti - there is not other better way than this. Sankirtan process is Kali Kalmasha nashanam. When devotees come together and together take shelter of Krsna.

    Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

All the instances you mentioned were cruelty by HUMAN BEINGS, why bring nature into the picture? What can nature do if human beings behave worse than animals? Why not blame human mind for discriminating so much between 'mine' and 'not mine' simply because someone follows one faith and someone else follows another, being equally faithful. This is the reason nature shows its fury in the form of tsunami, earthquakes, volcanoes... then the same human beings start saying - nature is so ferocious, human being is no comparison to nature.....Somewhere human beings have to take responsibility for what they have done to the beautiful earth provided by nature and beautiful life provided by God.

THe way to instill humanity in human beings is to go back to the basics - lead simple life, have minimal demands from body or for bodily comforts, understand the purpose of life, read Bhagawad Gita, do not exploit nature beyond one's necessities and all will be well.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
