Should I reduce listening to Vishnu-sahasranama?

Hare Krsna

Ever since a staunch devotee on this forum suggested that she would rather listen to Visnu-sahasranama then chant Allah or Rabba, I started to listen to Vishnu-sahasranama many times a day. As a result even when I am not listening to it, it is playing continuously in my mind. In the morning on a few occasions I woke up with Vishnu-sahasrama playing in my mind. I can literally see the climax of the battle of Kuruksetra. Nothing like it exists in this world anymore. I am not sure whether to start reciting the text of Visnu-sahasranama so beautifully composed or give up the obsession of Visnu altogether because it is making me very different from all else I get to meet.

  • Hare Kṛṣṇa. You should go with viṣṇu-sahasranāma (ādi śankarācārya's commentry) by geeta press, gorakhpur. Hari Hari.

Hearing the names of Lord Visnu is sufficient for me.

I don't want to go through the commentary of adi sankaracarya, who is the leader of the monist philosophers, as it is not advised by Srila Prabhupada. Although, Sri Adi Sankaracarya says, " Narayano paro 'vyaktat " which means that Narayan is not a part of this cosmic manifestation. His followers, the mayavadis, do not take this conclusion very seriously and commit offenses at the lotus feet of Visnu.
