Hare Krishna Prabhuji / Mataji,
Recently i saw a dream wherein a lady (ghost lady) tried to kill me and i could literally feel choked up. I tried to callout to Krishna but the name didnt come out of my mouth so i started chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra in my mind and i woke up after that.
I am confused as to why such nightmares are still continued? I do not watch television or talk anything related to horror movies.
Please explain.

Another way is to realize that dreams are not factual. Prabhupada gives an example of being attacked by a tiger in dreams, whereas, in fact there is no tiger. You must have seen that nightmares make you wake up from a false reality. You always wake up!
However, the process can be very emotionally draining. If the pattern doesn't stop then please try the remedies given by other devotees.
Then there is no reason to be afraid.

Lord Rama also had nightmares when seperated from Sita. Lord Lakshmana consoled Lord Rama.
Lord Gauranga faced similiar difficulties when preaching the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra. Mayavadis would chant the Hare Rama Maha Mantra and challenve the Lord. Lord Nityananda saved and purified those mayavadis by begging them to give up Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare maha mantra and take up the Yuga Dharma.
Many of us face nightmares. Give your life for the Lord and the Lord will make sure you will no longer die.

This ghost lady is really troubling you. Nrisimha kavacha, Narayan kavacha can be recited/ recodring played everyday.
Apart from this, chant mahamantra regularly, attentively, sincerely.
Have faith in mahamantra. Eat only Krsna prasadam.

Yes mataji i used to get such nighmares before. The difference now is that i immediately spell out Maha Mantra or Call out to Krishna. Few days later too i saw a dream wherein i saw someone pushed a very heavy furniture towards me and when i called out Krishna's name it stopped. But the strange thing was that my eyes where open while dreaming..
I listen to Narsimha pranam mantra, aarti on Hare Krishna Channel every day.

Please recite narsinh arati daily and visit narsinh mandir, apart from that, these matters come under jurisdiction of hanuman ji, so recite hanuman chalisa and sundar kand you will be protected.. Dm for more details.
Simply put, our spiritual cleansing takes time. In the meantime, there can be also malefic influences (sometimes from inimical persons) at play, due to one's karma. I wrote a FAQ called "Ghosts FAQ" which should help. Can't use a link here for some reason but you should be able to find it easily.
