Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Devotees cook to feed Krishna. That means they do not use anything which cannot be offered to Him things like onion, garlic etc.
We buy fruits, vegetables, grains, milk...to make food for Krishna - our home Deities. To feed Them and do not allow Them to remain hungry. And after offering and pleasing Them Devotees accept Deities remnants as a Prasada.
If we are out and do not have proper place to offer to the Deities then one can do the same thing in mind. In mind wash the fruit, cut if needed; put into nice plates, put Tulasi leaves then offer prayers and request Deities in our mind to accept this fruit. Prayers we read same.
Then chant Hare Krishna Maha Mantra and then after take that food from the Altar (again in mind) and offer that to Srila Prabhupada and one's own Diksha Guru then accept it as a Prasada.
Usually we should not buy cooked grains especially from outside. Cooked by non Devotees. Only milk sweets or milk we can take from karmis but not cooked grains. Only in rare situations.
Your servant,
Hare krishna karina moiseev Mataji
It would be really nice if you can provide the translated meaning of these mantras, especially the highlighted one's
maha-prasade govinde
nama-brahmani vaisnave
svalpa-punya-vatam rajan
visvaso naiva jayate
sarira avidya-jal, jodendriya tahe kal,
jive phele visaya-sagore
tar' madhye jihva ati, lobhamoy sudurmati,
ta ´ke jeta kathina samsare
Dear Maral Mataji , Many milk sweets are also prepared by mixing grains, then what is the reasoning that milk sweets prepared by karmis can be offered and not regular cooked grains.
Jai Jai Shree Krishna
Radhe Radhe.
translation of the above prayer is here: http://www.vaishnavsongs.com/maha-prasade-govinde/
Milk sweets as like peda, or simple kava or mava, burfi without aluminum coil, sandesh we can buy but not those mixed with grains.
But in some Holy Places like Sri Govardhan, and Jagannatha Puri Devotees take sweets like sampapri, Jagannath sweets, laddus cooked by local dhamvasis.
Your servant,
Hare Krishna Mataji. Dandavat Pranam
