Hare Krishna to All Devotees!!

My Question is regarding the order of chanting of Mahamantra.
Hare Krishna Mahamantra is coming from Kali Santarana Upanishad.
Although we in ISKCON follow a order of chanting to be uniqely aligned with all devotees.
But Can we chant Mahamantra in different order like
Hare Rama Hare Rama , Rama Rama Hare Hare
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare!!
If yes, is it equally potent as the other one or vice versa!!

benu mataji. has rightly said. the discription told is exactly what i have heard. once indra performed a yajna, but mistakenly pronounced one syllable of some mantra in a longer tone which resulted in the birth of a demon from the yajna fire. the hare ram mantra should be pronounced in a perticular tone in a calculated amt of time and so on as mentioned bu benu mataji..hence srikrishna chaitanya mahaprabhu gave an easy alternative with the same potency. hope u get satisfied

first we have to understand Sri Mad Bhagwad gita n SriMad Bhagwatam then we shud move ahead...
Well watever i wrote i heard it in a CD of hare krishna Mahamantra by Vinod aggarwal ji.....
I dont know whther he is an ISKCON follower or not but he specifically mentioned in his words that SriChaityna mahaprabhu had done this.......
Also on the cover of CD, there is picture of Gaura-Nitai...
I will send u the pic of CD cover soon and also try to send the MP3 file of the content of that CD......

Plz let me know even i m wrong and i felt sorry to krishna n chaityna mahaprabhu if all this theory is not correct.....
Also i think that we shud do more devotional services with full dedication rather than indulging and thinking deep in such issues...... We must think about all this but at some extent only coz we have imperfect senses....
Well In our Scriptures ,The order of Mahamantra was
Hare Rama Hare Rama , Rama Rama Hare Hare
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare!!
But to chant this mahamantra one should have various qualifications like he must be pure brahman, he must wear janeyu...he must be pure vaishnava and many other..
A normal person were not allowed to chant in this order.
But when sri chaitnaya mahaprabhu saw that in kaliyug , it is tough for normal human being to follow all these rules n regulations.
and if he dont follow these rules , he cannot take hari name and cant chant mahamantra.
As he is Lord himself,,,he reverses the order of this mahamantra and it becomes,
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama , Rama Rama Hare Hare!!!!!!
by reversing its order, he also frees it with so many rules n regulations....
so that everyone can take hari naam and chant mahamantra
This is all by Lord Chaityna's mercy that we all can chant this mahamantra freely just by concentrating our mind on krishna.......
Plz let me know if u r unclear somewhere and if i m wrong at some point....

Actually I attended a course in RISHIKESH, where they used "Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare......" And when I asked them about order they told to chant either way but stick to one order and in ISKCON as you mentioned we follow the order "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare......."

The mantra was popularized by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu roughly around 1500 CE when he began his mission to spread this mantra publicly to "every town and village" in the world, travelling throughout India, and especially within the areas of Bengal and Orissa.[12] Some versions of the Kali Santarana Upanishad give the mantra with Hare Rama preceding Hare Krishna(as quoted above), and others with Hare Krishna preceding Hare Rama. as in Navadvipa version of the manuscript. The latter format is by far the more common within the Vaishnava traditions.[13] It is a common belief that the mantra is equally potent when spoken in either order.[14]
