Hare Krishna mathura vasi devi MatajiDandvat pranam.Mataji I m not able to experience higher taste while chanting from the last 4 years.so I m not chanting now a days.My parents do not allow me to perform bhakti.they say that first you earn better then you can do bhakti.I m dentist. I work in clinic.I m not satisfied with whatever I m earning.if I earn better then my parents will be happy.if they become happy then they will not restrict my devotion.also it will become easy for me to convince them about the importance of bhakti.So please advise me how to earn good.Also I have some psychiatric (mental) problem.I m taking some medicine for this from the last 3 years.I think I m not able to experience the higher taste of chanting because of this psychiatric problem.Because of not being able to experience higher taste,I m not able to follow regulative principles properly.So please give me ur valuable advice so that I can advance spiritually and earn good to make my parents feel good about me

Prabhuji, you have inspired other prabhus to come forward and mention that their problem is similar to yours. My first question to you is - are you convinced that KRsna is the final destination for all of us and that Krsna consiousness is the right path? If you are convinced of these two, nobody can shake you.
Please get up early morning - preferably earlier than your family by 2 hours and sit and chant 16 rounds of the mahamantra. That is the most powerful medicine for all ailments.
Second, do your duty - go to the clinic and treat patients. Money will come when it has to and how much you are destined to get. YOu can hanker over it, do politics, commit one sin after the other, but the bottomline is - you will get only as much money as you are destined to get. So do your duty, before that do your sadhana and leave the rest to Krsna. On the flip side, how much money is enough money? How much do you have to earn to make your parents happy? Once you start earning that much, you will see that their demands on you will increase, taht now you should earn even more.
Therefore, if you wait that you will start chanting only when you are earning x amount, that will never happen. These are the traps of mayadevi. One should understand and accordingly never give up chanting.
Prabhu, you are saying that you are not getting taste. Maybe, but the very fact that you are hankering after taste in chanting means that you have realised something from chanting, it has benefitted you somewhat. Otherwise, why would you hanker.
One more thought comes to mind, you can tell your parents taht if you want me to concentrate only on earning money, then fine, I'll do that. You both have to chant 16+8 = 24 rounds of mahamantra everyday, do mangalarati, cook and eat only Krsna prasadam, attend regularly temple programs, read Gita and Bhagawatam on my behalf. Tell them that is auspicious and someone in the family has to do these things for the well being of the family. You will see that even if they promise, whihc I doubt, they will not be able to do it. This is because they do not have practise all these years. Taht is the reason we say that we have to start young. So that we can train ourselves to be Krsna COnscious every moment of our lives.
Prabhu, I also want to earn more money as I have lot of responsibilities but again it is not in our hands. It will come when it has to come otherwise all attempts to earn more will leave you distressed and take all your energy. Work hard to the extent it will not take peace out of your life and get you away from bhakti. If you observe you wont get any result after working hard enough but sometimes you get things done without much of your involvement. Take care of your health and do whatever you can to keep peace of mind. We cant do anything if there is no peace. Personally I havent experienced anything that can make me a good devotee.
I am also in same situation. My friends and family are avoiding me for being krishna consiousnesss. they question me
what happens after doing all this and get no result at end of your life.if I do all this I will miss out normal life and become psycho this is their second opinion.I gave time to myself and started doing bhakti as per my interest,initially i used to feel guilt if i dont do 16 rounds now iam 16 rounds sometimes less. Dont do bhakti out of fear of something. Dont compare yourself with advanced devotees.Everyone has different capacity, bhakti is not rat race. Feel of guilt,shame and pressure will ruin our bhakti. How many sincerely do bhakti only for krishna there is some selfish motive behind every action most of the time. i'm vinay from karnataka, im 22 and im doing my engineering . i failed two times in the same subject..... so i lost two years of my college life.. i wasa fully depressed inspite of knowing that Krishna know what to give and when to give.but u know what . when we are in problems we come to know the way of absolute truth that krishna.even my parent say that i go more spiritual that i read bagvad gita and other sacred books ,mantras and hyms written by the great scholars like vyasa maharishi and valmiki maharisi. my dad says that u are behaving more than ur age.. u r going weired ,and mom says no need to put ur head all these bhakti pooja and all because this ladies do... my youinger bro, critizingly ask me that "vinay did god really asked to do all those ,bhakti should be in our mind and heart that is more than enough".all my friend tease me that vinay is bhenji n all...

Your question is showing your sencerity in tasting the bliss of krishna consciousness.I will suggest you a few things as far as my realization allows me.
We should avoid ten offences while chanting the holy name to get the real taste.The 10 offences are as follows.
The offenses against chanting the holy name are as follows:
1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the holy name of the Lord.
2) To consider the names of the demigods like Lord Siva or Lord Brahma to be equal to, or independent of, the name Lord Visnu.
3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.
4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version.
5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krsna to be imagination.
6) To give some interpretation on the holy name of the Lord.
7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of chanting the holy name of the Lord.
8) To consider chanting of Hare Krsna one of the auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (karma-kanda).
9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name.
10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter.
Every devotee who claims to be a Vaisnava must guard against these offenses in order to quickly achieve the desired success.
Remember that even if one feels they are being offensive, there is no need to stop chanting. By trying to chant sincerely and serving the spiritual master, we may be purified of our offenses and may be able to chant purely. Chant Hare Krsna and Be Happy!
