Lord Krishna is so very kind. The average life expectancy for cats who are well cared for is 10-14 years. But Lord Krishna is so kind that he is allowing my cats to live very long lives. But now it looks like one of my elderly cats is getting ready to leave his body. He is 20 years old. He is drinking sips of ganga water( plus 1008 tirthas in one) He is listening to Srila Prabhupada's chanting japa tape. I am going to spend today chanting right next to him. Can anyone think of what else I could be doing to help him in his next life? Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think you could have done any better for your baby. Bhagavatam says that we should take care of our pets, like our own children. You surely have done that mataji.
I have a feeling, your cat is bound to get a human birth next life :)
The cat was probably thinking of you, as it left the body and therefore a female body in the next life.

Yes, The Bhagavatam does indeed say that we are to take good care of our pets. I totally agree with you 100% about my cat taking a human birth in a female human body. Yes, he is indeed a blessed soul. Thank you for your kind comments.
Does anyone know how many days I should wait until I get my cat cremated? I was wondering if I should wait a few more days or if it is OK to get him cremated tomorrow? Thanks for any advice.
The cremation has to be done immediately mataji. Pls dont wait.

A devotee saw my dead cat's body yesterday and said that he had a smile on his face. She said that he passed away during Brahma-muhurta hour during the month of Purosottama which is super auspicious! Yes, I will call this morning and arrange for a cremation for him today. Thanks.
Traditionally, animals like cats are buried in the ground, with some salt added to the soil. Apparently, adding salt to the soil will, keep other animals from smelling and digging for it.
I am not suggesting to make a grave. Just bury the cat body somewhere, far from you so you dont develop attachment to the grave of the cat by burying in your back yard.

Thank you for your suggestions. However,the last time I visited India, I brought the ashes of my parents and ashes of my previous cats. The priest in Haridwar did a nice ceremony for all of them and then their ashes went into the Ganges River. It was very nice. Therefore, I want to do this one last time for these cats- my last 2 cats. My cat got cremated today and I will save his ashes until my other elderly cat dies. Then I can take both of my cats ashes to India and have the same kind of ceremony. After that, no more cats for me.
My sweet baby died at 5:08am today. At the time of his death, he was listening to the Srila Prabhupada chanting japa tape and I too was chanting. I have now bathed his entire body in the Holy Ganga water. He will be cremated and his ashes will be saved until my other elderly cat dies. After the other cat dies, I will be taking both of my cats ashes to Mayapur, and then their ashes will go together into the Holy Ganges River.
