Lord Caitanya IS the Supreme Lord, but His mission was to show us how to become a perfect Vaisvana, a perfect Krsna conscious devotee.
But Jesus Christ was never god. He himself never said that he was god. Only some priests starting calling him god and some less intelligence people starting following them. Most of the stories in Bible about Jesus are not true! He is a man made god!!!

Good Question from a person like you who has a Christian Background. Well the answer is as below :

1. Firstly I would tell you that it is a fact that Jesus is NOT God Himself, but He is "son of God" ( or more precisely a bonafide representative of God - technically a Vaisnava ). There are enough evidences for this. So firstly please accept that Jesus is NOT God Himself.
2. Secondly, If you clearly read Lord Krishna's final instruction in the last chapter of Bhagavad Gita ( 18.66 ), there you see that Lord Krishna is demanding that we should surrender to Him. In other words it means He is saying become My devotee ( Please remember that a "Surrendered" soul to Lord Krishna is technically called a "Devotee").
Now this was theorotical point which Krishna made. But to practically demonstrate this point He manifested Himself as a Devotee. And because He was playing a role of a devotee He never used to accept Himself as God. This doesn't mean that He is NOT God. Because to substantiate this point there are many instances mentioned in the book "Caitanya Caritamrita" which clearly prove that Caitanya Mahaprabhu is God.

It looks like that you have NOT properly read the Four important books among many Books which Srila Prabhupada wrote. These are Bhagavad Gita, Nectar of Devotion, Srimad Bhagavatam and Caitanya Caritamrita. Hence my kind request to you is please read the books on the Krsna Concious philosophy very carefully.

( Note : I recommend that you read a book called " Christainity and Krsna Consciouness". This should surely help you )

  There is no reason for you to apologize for your question. You are inquiring. Just like Srila Prabhupada always wanted his disciple to. There is no harm in asking a question. How else does one learn. You are very humble and respectful. Those are good qualities in a devotee.
  
  I am no expert on these matters. The only thing I could suggest is that you continue to chant, read Srila Prabhupada's books, and continue to ask questions.

Read one article by HH Sivaram Swami quoting the various scriptures reference. One of which is

" SuvaroVargo Hemango Varanga Chadanagadi ............." In short whose body is like yellow gold . ( Sorry do not know exact traslation ).

As Krishna showed universal form to Arjuna Lord Chaitanya also showed 6 handed form to Sarvabhowma Bhatacharya once he surrendered unto Lord.

Ask any Christain who is follwoing his religion where was Jesus from age 8/9 for few years . There is history that he was in India studying the scriptures to preach to barbaric world of that time in middle east.

friends i feel that this thing which we are discussing here right now is the most common mistake we make in kalyuga...

as said

in kalyuga people will spend all their precious lifetime in just interrogating and trying to find out which god is correct which is not , and in the end when they will find the truth about krishna being the godhead ,
they wont have anytime to serve HIM and we will only regret we had not beleived it earlier and wasted the life.
