Hare Krishna to all,
I have read in Srimad Bhagwatam and also mentioned by his divine grace Srila Prabhupada in his commentories of SB and BG that there are living beings on Moon and also on Sun and many other planets.
I had discussed this with one of my friend. Now that Chandrayan 3 is going to land on Moon and also sending many pictures of Moon, it can be seen that there is no life or any living creatures on Moon. How to understand this and to also explain this to my friend.
I do not intend to make any offence against anyone, but the point raised by my friend is needed to be discussed.
Please Help.

Pls. watch what Srila Prabhupada says about the life on moon planet.
"It is not possible to reach the moon by any material vehicle like a sputnik, but persons who are attracted by material enjoyment can go to the moon by pious activities." ( SB 3. 32.3 purport).
"In the modern age, people from earth have tried to go to the moon, but they have not been able to find anyone there, what to speak of meeting the moon's predominating deity. The Vedic literature, however, repeatedly informs us that the moon is full of highly elevated inhabitants who are counted amongst the demigods. We are therefore always in doubt about what kind of moon adventure the modern scientists of this planet earth have undertaken." (4.22.54 SB purport)
"When we take into account that the moon is 100,000 yojanas, or 800,000 miles, above the rays of the sunshine, it is very surprising that the modern excursions to the moon could be possible. Since the moon is so distant, how space vehicles could go there is a doubtful mystery. Modern scientific calculations are subject to one change after another, and therefore they are uncertain. We have to accept the calculations of the Vedic literature. These Vedic calculations are steady; the astronomical calculations made long ago and recorded in the Vedic literature are correct even now. Whether the Vedic calculations or modern ones are better may remain a mystery for others, but as far as we are concerned, we accept the Vedic calculations to be correct." ( 5.22.8)
"So-called advanced scientists of the modern age are trying to go to the higher planets, but at the same time they are experiencing a power shortage on earth. If they were actually capable scientists, they could personally go by airplane to other planets, but this they are unable to do. Having now given up their moon excursions, they are attempting to go to other planets, but without success." (5.17.4 SB)
"The interplanetary system undoubtedly exists, and residents of different planets may go from one to another. On this earth, however, we have not invented any machine that can go directly from one planet to another, although an unsuccessful attempt has been made to go directly to the moon." (5.1.8)

Life as we know or perceive has not yet been observed would be the phrase I would use.
But that is true even on this planet. Living beings on this planet earth have their bodies made of mainly earth & water. So people of earth are inclined to look for similar life forms. But moon does not belong to earthly planetary system. It is a higher planetary system. The life forms there are not similar to ours. They are not dependent on Food & water like us.
Lord Brahma's body is made of pure intelligence (which is subtle element). It is not possible for such a living being to be perceived by gross senses or instruments.
For that matter most fields of modern science including biology cannot acknowledge the presence of mind within human beings, because mind is not a gross element. But even a child or animal can perceive their own mind. So we are highly limited in perception of life. In fact modern science does not even clearly define life. The difference between life and death is only based on external characteristics like heart beat etc.
But Vedic science celarly defines the source and cause of life - Spirit soul.
So when such deficiencies are there at a core fundamental level in modern methods , success will be limited.

A lower/grosser element cannot perceive a higher or subtler element.
This can be understood by common sense - A person without high intelligence cannot perceive higher intelligence of another person.
SImilarly mind or mental state of a person can only be perceived by a person who has a sensitive or superior mental ability.
Mind or intelligence cannot be perceived by lower elements like air water ether etc, so what to speak of soul which is the real source of life.
