Karma reaction

ย Hare Krishna Prabhu ji /Mata ji ๐Ÿ™

Please accept my humble obesience ๐Ÿ™‡

Please help me to overcome this query ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

When a person dies by some diease or by accident then we can say that it's due to karmic reaction...

But if someone got killed or murdered then what should be our view point regarding this ...is this is also a karmic reaction ....that he completed his life period and it is already fixed he/she had to die like this ....or it is something else like not a reaction but an action of doer.

Please guide me on this topic ๐Ÿ™

if someone got killed or murdered then what should be our view point regarding this ...is this is also a karmic reaction ?

Six elder brothers of Sri Krsna & Balarama were brutally murdered at their respective births by Kamsa. If we see this ghastly act in isolation then it doesn't make sense why those babies, who are brothers of Supreme Personality of God were killed. Even from Kamsa's point of view, only the eighth child of Devaki would kill Kamsa, not other children of Devaki.ย

In order to understand this we have to know the history of who those six children were and why they had to killed by Kamsa. Other scriptures mention that these six children were sons of a demon named Kalanemi. The six sons of Kalanemi were cursed to be killed by their own father. Hence Kalanemi was born as Kamsa and his six sons were born to Devaki. Then Kamsa killed those six childrenย  who were his own sons in previous births.ย

The above example was given to illustrate that there is a superior system within this material world which governs all the happenings. It is acting upon all living entities that have material bodies. Even great devatas are not above this system. This system functions under the supervision of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna, although Sri Krsna doesn't personally concern (micro-manage) Himself with the happenings.

What should be our view point regarding this ?

It is possible that their life period is over. It is also possible that it is not over. It is part of karmic reaction.

Not being a reaction is not possible irrespective if action/intention of the person causing the death.ย

Having said that as reasonable human beings it is natural to feel bad or bitter at loss of life. That is compassion, nothing wrong with it.ย But any such incident (even to our dearest ones) should not disable our ability to function in the long run.ย We grieve, we develop detachment, but we should move on eventually.

As responsible humans we should develop mechanisms that prevent such happenings in future. This happens at various levels - personal, social, national etc. For example at personal level one may decide to drive only at moderate speeds. At social level one may not associate with those who indulge in intoxication. At national levels they enact regulations, laws etc and punish wrong doers. But we need to remember that one of these are any guarantee that anyone will be safe all the time.ย

There are many things we should not do - We should not act out of anger or haste or harbour revenge because these will only harm us. Some people criticize God or become atheists saying there is no god or god is cruel etc. Such attitude is out of ego. We should not develop such dispositions.

Vedic system allows for a process of atonement or prayaschitta which is basically a mechanism of nullifying the reactions of bad karma that we have performed but the reactions have not yet come upon us. Example - If someone kills a snake in self defense, they can perform rituals for sarpa dosha and naga prathistha etc. This is quick but temporary solution. Effectiveness depends on who and how rituals are performed.ย

Most importantly we should commit to the spritiual practice of Krsna consciousness. This will not only protect our life and faith but also make sure that our destination after death (which is inevitable) is more secure.ย

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

In case of unnatural death, it is said that the lifetime of that jivatma was not over in that body. That soul doesnt get another gross body until the determined life span of the soul.ย

Illness is part of the suffering of the soul, which is attributed to past sins. Accident is also unnatural death.ย
