  • PAMHO,

Satchidananda and Sachidananda are different spellings for different gurus from very different traditions.  Sri Swami Satchidananda was a disciple of Swami Sivananda, not from a Vaishnava background.  Sri Swami Satchidananda was perhaps most famous for speaking at the Woodstock music festival.  He was one of the teachers to make yoga (hatha asana) popular and accessible to the west.  He left his gentle style of yoga called "Integral Yoga".  He passed away relatively recently.  Adi Shankacharya lineage.

Srila Sachinandana Maharaj is a disciple of HDG Srila Prabhupada.  He is a beloved initiating guru.

The spiritual group you were is likely to have meant the former, I think this because of the "Sri Swami" title that is consistently applied to the famed "woodstock guru".  Also, the spelling differences are subtle, but important.

    Hope this helps.  HK.

Thank you so very much for clearing this up. Yes, I had a feeling that Sri Swami Satchidananda was not a Hare Krishna. Now I can let the person know who insisted that he was a Hare Krishna know the truth
