IN WHICH PURANA THIS STORY HAS BEEN DESCRIBED

HARE KRISHNA ,

                       ALL GLORIES TO SRILA PRABHUPADA

I want to know in which purana this story has been described?

Once in Dwarka, Krishna sent for Garuda and told him, “Go and call Hanuman.”

So Garuda went to Hanuman and told him, “Lord Krishna is calling you to Dwarka.” Hanuman was busy chanting rama-nama; “Rama, Rama, Rama, Rama.” He didn’t pay any attention to Garuda.

Garuda repeated himself two or three times, “I have come from Dwarka. Lord Krishna has sent me. He is calling you. Please come.” But Hanuman didn’t listen. Garuda kept repeating himself until finally Hanuman gave a great lash with his tail and Garuda was thrown into the air and fell down in Dwarka in front of Krishna.

Garuda was morose. But Krishna could understand what had happened. Krishna said, “Why did you say that Krishna was calling him? Go again. This time tell him that Lord Rama is calling.”

Again Garuda went there and told Hanuman, “Lord Rama is calling you. Please come.”

Hanuman said, “Oh, my master is calling? All right, I will go immediately.”

Garuda said, “Please, sit on my shoulders. I will fly you there in a moment.”

“No. You go ahead,” Hanuman said, ” I am going. But I won’t sit on your shoulders.”

Garuda went back. But before Garuda reached there, Hanuman had already arrived. Garuda saw that Krishna had assumed the form of Lord Rama, Balaram had assumed the form of Laksman, and Rukmini had assumed the form of Sitadevi. Hanuman was sitting there with folded hands. Krishna thought His dear devotee wants to see this form of mine, so he showed him the form of Lord Rama.

  • in brihad bhagvatamrita sri hanuman says this about Lord Krishna pastimes:

The sweetness of the great mercy the Lord displays now is greater and more profound than what he had shown in the past.

So of course hanuman g eulogises Lord Krishna pastimes but still he goes on to say further:

I pray that for Lord Ramachandra, whose heart is naturally soft with sincere compassion, who is honest and righteous......................may my devotional love always increase.

  • Well murari gupta is none other than sri hanuman.

Also there is one story of jambawant g fighting with Lord Krishna in dwapara yuga, wherein also jambawant g wants darshan of his worshippable Lord Sri Ram.

you may find similar happenings in brihad bhagvatamrita too..

  • Dean prabhu,

definitely pure devotees make difference between one form of the lord and another as is evident from the story of murari gupta in chaitanya charitamrita in adi lila.

Chaitanya mahaprabhu explained to Murari that Krishna was the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the fountainhead of all the other incarnations. Because he was the ocean of all the devotional flavors, the joy to be had in worshiping Krishna could not be had in the service of any other form of the Lord. Murari promised Mahaprabhu that he would do as he advised and worship Krishna, but when he returned to his home, he could not give up the lotus feet of Ramachandra. Just the thought of it made him upset and he stayed awake the entire night. In the morning, he went to Mahaprabhu and fell at his feet with tears in his eyes. He humbly submitted to the Lord:

I have sold my head to Ramachandra. I cannot remove it from his feet, for as soon as I try, it causes me great pain. I cannot give up the lotus feet of Raghunatha, even though this means disobeying you
