How to remember Krishna?

Hare Krishna!

PAMHO

I have noticed that while doing something spiritual, I am always thinking of krishna (obviously) but I'm such a hypocrite that the moment I do something materialistic (study, piano, exercise etc.) I completely forget about him!

and it's not just that! whenever I'm talking to devotee I may sound humble but while talking to a non devotee, I get so irritated while talking that I myself feel that what i am saying is wrong

so I just wanted to ask that how can I remember Krishna 24/7 no matter what i'm doing and talk meekly no matter who I'm talking to

because of my habit of talking back, being so materialistic etc. I have a fear that i'll become an example that I am trying to be a devotee but still how agitated I am! And that won’t be nice because I’ll stop people from coming to spirituality.

So please tell me how should I become more tolerant and always think of Krishna ji.

Hare Krishna!

  • Also, when someone asked Neem Karoli Baba that what's the best service that person can do, Baba replied "The best service you can do is to keep your thoughts on God. Keep God in mind every minute."

    • Hare Krishna Prabhu ji!

thank you so much! I can see how scrutinizingly you must have read the verses of bhagavad gita to be able to quote so many examples! please bestow your mercy so that even I can read it that nicely. I will definitely do all the things you said

      Hare Krishna!

  • Ma'm, one approach is like that you play piano for Krishna, you exercise to keep yourself fit for service to Krishna, etc.

    Hare Krsna mataji,

    PAMHO.

When you start your studies or exercise or piano, before starting, pray internally - Krsna this exercise to keep the temple of body fit I offer to You and then exerise. Same with studies and piano - I offer to You.

Regarding getting irritated and talkign back, that will change with practise, gradually, over a period of time. Dont be too hard on yourself.

Remember one thing, Krsna accepts you as you are. You are trying to be a better person to please Krsna and become worthy of Him. So this thought and effort is pleasing to Krsna.

Nothing is achieved without struggle, even in spiritual endeavours. So struggle and come out winner.

We become more tolerant by tolerating. There are no shortcuts.

    Best of luck.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD

    • Hare Krishna Mata ji!

I had once heard that in between our war with maya, when maya attacks us, (when we give in to maya) the kind words of devotees are like oinment on the wounds! and I feel so happy that devotees like you are ready to give that oinment to me!

      Hare Krishna!

  • Hare Krishna Mata ji,

I am glad you are able to focus on Krishna when you are doing spiritual activities. Here people complain that they sit to chant and mind is going somewhere else thinking about zillion things, and everytime we have to get back our mind to focus on the Mahamantra syllables or Krishna's form.  So you are way ahead of everyone you are atleast saying confidently that you are able to focus on Krishna when you are performing spiritual activities.

Mind has a tendency to be in the past, or in the future. To keep the mind in present is  tough task and that is only is called meditation. Meditation is just bringing mind and senses to one point focus.

Just as in BG Krishna says.

On the other hand, he who controls the senses by the mind and engages his active organs in works of devotion, without attachment, is by far superior. (3.7 BG)

Every work which we do by giving 100% concentration of mind and senses, without attaching to the fruits of work done. That activity is certainly spiritual and pleases Krishna.

Now when you are studiying you are giving ur 100% attention to it, seeing that you do perfectly ur math or whatever it is, even in piano classes if your mind is somewhere else can you play any tune perfectly?Same goes with your exercise, if you dont have focus on it, you will fall down hurt urself isn't it. So, when you are doing any work you are going to do with fully focus and nicely perfectly giving ur 100% involvement and not getting attached to faliures or sucess., just hoping everything will be alright keeping all faith in Krishna. Isn't it?

When you learn math and go for taking test, you don't know what is going to be the result of it, but you just do ur 100% hardwork and take the test and leave the rest on Krishna. fruits of the work done Lord will give accordingly. This is what is Karma Yoga.

Just add Krishna into all the work done. See while starting of work, pray hey, Krishna pls. help me in this work, at the end of the work say hey Krishna  I have done something I know it is faulty but I have tried my best, pls. see that everything be alright.  That is all that needed. Very simple. Starting of work and ending of the work. in between also if you can rememeber it is nice good. But if you are totally involved into the work and not able to think anything also it is accepted by Lord it is a kinda meditation.

People meditate for long hours trying to get their senses and mind to one place and you are able to do it isn't it great? BTW, art esp. piano, and poem writing or anything painting, singing etc. they are just require full attention then only you can do them isnt it? that is itself meditation and you just offer to Krishna over it gets spiritualized.

Second question you are asking about is how to tolerate non devotees---

See, first of all don't think you are a devotee they are non devotee. First of all see all are human beings and all are having Parmatma in them. They have not realized yet but all are part and parcel of Krishna.

If you hurt any being be it human or plant, spider, or chicken all have life in them. They all are parts of Lord. If you have this idea in your head fixed you will never insult anyone or hurt anyone or treat anyone disrespectfully.

Tolerance comes with practice. slowly you will understand things. If we feel we are someone very superior then others then we surely will look down on others and treat others bad.  So just think you are lower, keep a low profile.

Sri Chaitnaya Mahaprabhu has taught us how to be have tolerance and treat everyone equally.  It is difficult some times we get caught in false ego. It is kaliyuga but try to bring back to normalcy. We can correct our behavior when we hurt someone saying sorry doesnt make you low.

If we ask forgiveness we can become humble.

Vaishnavas even if they cut vegetables for cooking they seek forgiveness saying sorry and offer to Krishna first then only take it as prasadam. because even vegetables have life in it.  then What to say about hurting other beings?

I know it is easier to say but keep silence when something is not going according to your plan is best way to avoid conflicts. Talking back and fast fast replying conflicts happen and in that procedure you may hurt people. Just when time is not good or when things don't go according to your plan sit silently wait for right time.

Don't try to show faults of others, because we ourselves are always faulty we are not perfect ourselves. Sometimes when we preach things also people take in negative sense.  Just avoid over enthusiastic preaching to all.

See, sometimes a guru ji says sometime these people take it positively but if we ( younger people) try to preach someone they take in the wrong sense, same thing if someone elders preach like some guru maharaj they feel its authentic.

Always thank Krishna at the start of the day and end of the day even if you are not able to think of Him whole day., you must say thanks to Him when we retire to bed for providing us food, clothes, shelter and taking care of everything. Similarly at the start of the day.

    Hare Krishna.

    • Hare Krishna Mata ji!

thank you so much! It's not like I'm able to think of lord Krishna completely while chanting it's just that I feel a little bit connected... I just try to think this way

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna - Radha and Krishna are together

Krishna Krishna hare hare- they get seperated

Hare Rama Hare Rama -Radhika raman and Radha rani are together

ram ram hare hare- they get seperated

so I try to chant all the time so that they don't get seperated but I'm not able to do that... While chanting I'm just hearing my chanting and the rest, my mind is more into the birds sitting on trees... I said that because I still feel more connected to spirituality and Krishna while doing something like that because since Krishna is so merciful he overlooks my faults.

I will definitely try to do what you said... actually I feel that after corona I haven't been out much, there is no person who love Krishna where I live, I don't have any friends except for Krishna so that is why I start getting irritated because I am a servant of my mind and it's not happy in these circumstances! but still... what to do? I'll just listen and chant so nicely so that these things don't bewilder me anymore

      Hare Krishna!

  • just focus on ..chetodarpan marjanam..clean the mirror of your heart...chitta shudhi is followed by krsna prema..without krsna prema you cant remember him all the time. Gopis used to complaint we cant forget krsna. Trutir yugayte twam pashytam. Read Krsna book..you cant chant maha mantra all the time..so chant other names of krsna and hear katha and kirtans...purify your existence..

    • Hare Krishna prabhu ji!

thank you so much for telling that prabhu ji... but how can I get Krishna Prema? does it mean us loving Krishna or Krishna getting attracted to us by our devotion and thus, loving us even more? I don't know...

      Hare Krishna
