In the reality Temple is a university where we learn how to make our houses a Temple.

So if couples can do a Temple out of their house then that is the best.

But not everyone can make it as like at the Temple.

But for example, Mangala Arati, Deity worship, chanting, reading Srimad Bhagavatam, sankirtana we can do.

Also some days a week we can invite Devotees and feed them with Prasadam. Sometimes invite Temple brahmacharis and request them to give class at Your home and invite Your neighbors, relatives...

If we do not engage our senses in serving others, and very actively then we will use them for sense gratification like over sleeping (of course it is not about You dear Mataji, i am saying in general also with my own experience) over eating...as a result being angry, dissatisfied with life, loneliness....

So grihashta Devotees, especially wives should become enthusiastic in this - in making a house into a Temple!

Above Rashmi Mataji nicely told that whatever is cooked at home should be offered with love to the Deities. So better when we cook we should cook always for the Deities.

If our family members eat 3 times a day then we have to offer food 3 times or two...

But as a standard You can keep to offer cooked food only once a day. So that even if Your family one day eat out specially for the Deities You have to cook and offer at least once a day.

Also we used to make sweets like laddus, burfis...and offer some of them in the morning for breakfast, so it will save our time. Also we can keep dry fruits, fruits, milk for Them.

The main thing is always to remember Krishna - Deities and never forget Him- Deities.

Srila Prabhupada told that we should take care of Deities as if They are our children. :D

Concerning Ekadashi also Rashmi Mataji told. Mostly in many families it is done like that.

Aarati You can make daily once when You sing Mangala Arati offering fire, incenses, flowers, water, cloth, chamara, peacock feather...

Again about food: because my life is similar to a student's life i cannot offer luxurious food to my Deities. So i offer Them whatever i have and can eat myself: without salt...sugar...etc.

    Hare Krsna mataji,

    PAMHO.

To add to what Bhaktin Maral mataji has already mentioned, I hope your husband is also a devotee and can share some responsibilities with you. in that case, you can take his help to do the deity service like arati, you prepare the food for bhog and make him do the offering. So little by little, your workload reduces a bit.

Offering also, you can simplify and offer milk and fruits one time and cooked food another time. The idea is that whatever is cooked in the house should be offered. There should be no onion garlic or nonveg in the kitchen.

Regarding abhishek, its advisable to do every ekadashi. Jagannath deities are normally in wood, therefore their abhishek is not done, only dress is changed. Abhishek for them is done once a year only.

Whatever standard of deity worship you set in the house, you have to follow. Therefore, it is advisable to have very simple standard so that having deities in the house is not a source of anxiety.

    Haribol,

    • Hare Krishna Radhika Mataji

As Bhaktin Mataji has advised, the most pratical way is to have a servant to clean the house, dishes and clothes.

      That saves lot of time.

As your bhakti and Krishna consciousness increases day by day, you will be juggling more and more with time. Because you would want to do the best and more for Lord Krishna. Simple standard of worship will automatically become a full fledged service.

So employ servants for daily household routine and enjoy more time serving Lord Krishna

    Hare Krishna dear Radhika Mataji,

    Please accept my humble obeisances!

    All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Here certainly You need help of some other Matajis.

In this regard big families with many members were very nice and helpful to bring up the family healthier.

But these days are difficult because wife and husband stay alone. And he goes out for a job she stays back with whole house works and plus kids.

So how to solve the problem?

It is true if we want to cook 3 times a day; if we want to keep house clean; and if we have a child plus so young...one person can not manage it.

So if You stay in India think of employing a servant who will wash plates, clean the house, wash the clothes.

Or a nanny for Your child so while You are doing house hold duties she is looking after Your child.

But better child be with mother, but if a nanny is a Devotee nice Mataji then that is also ok.

In India cheaper option is a servant for cleaning the house. In western countries they hire nannies for kids.

Maybe You can have washing machine and wash Your cloth in that to save time for Your chanting etc.

And some days a week You can invite Your friends - Matajis to help You to cook, clean, take care of Your child.

For example, if Your friend is also having a child as like You so once You look after two kids Yours and Your friends and Your friend will be free for doing other things. And next time she will look after Your kid along with her own so You will have free time for other things...

So this community of Devotees or family members, friends are very helpful in our lives.

    Your servant,
