How to become the disciple of an ISKCON guru?

Namaste,

There is not much useful data in the net on this topic.

I live in USA near Boston. There is a ISKCON temple in boston, however owing to distance and traffic near the downtown area, with lack of proper parking spaces, I do not frequent the iskcon temple often. I seldom visit the temple, actually.

Now I have been practicing Krishna consciousness for 7 months strictly. (Japa, avoidance of onion/garlic/tea/coffee, 4 regulative principles, etc).

I want to become the disciple of a iskcon guru.

Just this morning I wrote to BVKS Swami via his webpage contact, so far no reply from his sishyas.

I do not know anyone who is associated with iskcon currently.

How do I proceed with becoming a sishya of a iskcon guru?

Please let me know.

Many thanks.

  • Hare Krsna mataji, Pamho, AGTSP,

Ideal procedure is to be first a congregational devotee of nearby iskcon temple. Then you are supposed to serve, attend lectures and festival of the temple. I had asked same question decades ago in Mumbai iskcon temple, and one prabhupad disciple told me to "associate with devotees first"  After chanting 16 regularly krsna will reveal your guru maharaj in your heart. For at least a year you are supposed to be in touch with any Prabhupad disciple for counselling then you can come to conclusion.

    • Thank you for your kind reply, Prabhu ji.
