With reference to below 2 verses in bhagawatam:
In SB 8.19.7: When Hiraṇyakaśipu heard the news of his brother's being killed, with great anger he went to the residence of Viṣṇu, the killer of his brother, wanting to kill Lord Viṣṇu.
SB 8.19.11: Upon seeing that the residence of Lord Viṣṇu was vacant, Hiraṇyakaśipu began searching for Lord Viṣṇu everywhere.
How was it possible for hiranyakasipu to enter visnuloka? Of course he was originally a resident of visnuloka before, but in this birth in the body of hiranyakasipu, how could he go there?

so there are two Karana oceans then, correct. one in the spiritual sky and one in the mahat-tattva?
Dear Radhe, Hare Krsna. The karana ocean is as said, outside the coverings of the universe. Maha tattva is the material energy when it is activated by the glance of the Supreme Lord and the the 3 modes of nature are actuated. The karana ocean is not the same as the water of this material world. There is no material elements and 3 modes in the karana and the spiritual sky. Maha Visnu is residing in this Karana ocean and from Him the universes come. When Visnu expands into the universes He is Garbadokshayi and Ksiradokshayi Visnu respectively.
Hare Krsna devotee. There is also a Vaikuntha planet in the material universe.
When there is some problem the demigods go there and pray to Lord Visnu.
That place is called Sveta dwipa and is surrounded by an ocean of milk.
Another name is Prapanchika vaikuntha. The 5 tattvas are there, Isha, Jiva. Maya [prakrti], Kala and Karma.
This vaikuntha is also where you go by following ekadasi and where you may but rarely fall down from again.
So this Vaikuntha can be reached by Hiranyakashipu not the Vaikuntha of the spiritual sky.
